Subject: Converting Sanguinary Guard into Warp Talons?

hey there! im considering converting up some Sanguinary guard into warp talon(or at least Counts As warp talons) for my Tzeentchian Fallen Angels army!
was wondering if you all think it would be a really difficult conversion or not, as in are there TOO many blood angels markings that need filing etc or is it a reasonably simple task? note i am DECENTLY good with green stuff, enough to get by, and i made a skull press mold for "soul trapped armor" plating that ive been using to great success with converting the loyalist marines(save the tac squad[s] that are just getting painted up in fallen colors) from my dark vengeance box. I think thematically, the wing-jump packs would be very neat for "fallen warp talon" as if that when they first were "tainted" Tzeentch gave them wings to portray his own bird-like appearance as they are champions of his will now. also i figure going in and out of the warp could slowly have converted them to this level of mutation that their jump packs fused into them in the form of wings!
Let me know what you think guys!

I would probably have used the sanguinary guard kit to represent an assault marine who fell to slaanesh imho,
It gives more of a perverted, bastardised look to them that fits slaanesh perfectly. However there arent so many BA icons, just clip and file them off and if needs be green stuff any gaps

Well it all depends on how you want them to look. You could if you wanted leave the markings on there to mock their loyalist conterparts.
But getting all markings and purity seals off will take some effort and leave you with a lot of blank areas to cover.
What mostly makes warptalons warptalons for me is their demonic nature and their claws. So you'd need a bunch of lightning claws or something similar for them and you are golden. If you haven't enough maybe you could use power fists and glue blades on them. (Plasticard of cut up power swords)
What you could also try is sand the edges of the wings round to give them a more organic look.
Maybe add some small warp flames coming out of the gaps of their armor to add a demonic touch to them. Something like: "They spent so much time in the warp that the warp is a part of them. Each time they jump through it they take a portion of it with them - aggressively bleeding into reality and overloading senses of all who see them break the barrier of reality."

If I were you, I'd probably go for those Death Masks, they look really great, and have a kind of creepy, chaos-ish look to them, the one I chose for my BA Captain was like, crying, which I thought was pretty cool ;D

For a Fallen Angels army - by which I presume you mean an army of loyalist Angel marines who've turned Traitor, specifically to Tzeentch in this case - I think they'd make great counts-as Warp Talons, representing ex-Sanguinary Guard now worshipping Tzeentch.
How to model them will depend on how you're modelling the 'fallen' aspect of the rest of the army - are they retaining their old loyalist icons (perhaps defaced or mutated)? That would certainly be the easiest option, otherwise you have a _lot_ of details to remove or cover.
Hmm, could be interesting to mutate the wings in some way, but that would be a lot of work...
The biggest modelling issue is weaponry - they need to have some sort of giant talons, either ordinary mechanical lightning claws (although they don't have to look the same as standard lightning claws), or Tzeentch has mutated their hands into giant claws. Or a combination of both - with Tzeentch involved, I'd expect each marine to have mutated slightly differently.

im sorry if wasnt specific earlier, by "fallen" i mean a sect of "the fallen" (dark angels traitors who followed Luther).
Thank you all for the tips! i just feel theyd make GREAT warp talons of Tzeentch/ traitor DA's!
Doom, i LOVE the idea of they take a piece of the warp with them every time, thats kinda what i was aiming for and you said it PERFECTLY!
I wouldnt go out of my way to take off all purity seals etc as they ARE traitors, but i just wouldnt like to see any BLOOD angel icons, which was my original concern that they would just be COVERED in them!
I also really like how their glaives look, but i indeed know that theyd need claws to be official, or would i? i mean i dont know...i could just try and buy warp talons claws on ebay or something, or yeah try and make my own...
Brotherofbone, i definitely was thinking the death masks for them, i love skulls, so anything skeletal is de shiznit in my eyes.
once again thanks again guys, i am definitely getting this box next instead of a warp talons box, i figure since theyre the same price and i LOVE converting minis, why not give it a shot...plus im sure ill get all sorts of cool extra bits to add to my traitor marines!

Depending on how (and if) mutated they should be you could also use some possessed arms as power fists. But i don't know how i feel about useing warp talon fists for them as they are a completely different style than the rest of their armor. If you like converting it is probably better to use loyalists power fists. Sadly the only lightning claw set from GW is for terminators and probably to big to properly fit normal power armor, even with conversions.
Another option that is something between conversion and counts as. Mount the top of their glaives at their arms like a single claw on each side.
Normally i have nothing against counts as models but i think as you are already useing non warp talon models for them you should at least make their weapons wysiwyg. It's not that i wouldn't play you (if i'd actually play) but your conversions would be better accepet by your opponents if they follow the rule of cool and don't "just" look like sanguinary guard with minor conversions and a different paintjob.
And i know very well of the extra cost for a conversion like that. I myself spent a lot of money on my talons as i kitbashed them with a possessed box and tyranid wings and even threw in a few daemonette bitz.

those are pretty damn awesome Doom!
I was definitely considering the mounting of the glaives as a single claw but i agree with you in that since theyre already going to be converted SG that at least their claws should be WYSIWYG! i can also probably Ebay some Termie claws and just chop em off at the wrist and put em on the SG arms after removing the bolters and hands. Really love your nid wings, but i really think the feather wings from the SG as when i think of Tzeentch i think of silly magical bird people. =P
im sure ill figure it out! but seriously, thank you so so much for your input!

been doing some research etc, and im actually thinking of taking raptors instead of Warp talons, as in terms of competitive play, they just seem to TROMP the talons.
what do you all think? also the converting will seem to be easier as i can keep their original loadout weaponry and it will still be fairly accurate to WYSIWYG.
what do you all think?

Another thing you could do to alternatively represent the dual lightning claws would be to give them power glaives/swords in both hands - i.e., dual wielding swords and the like.
