I love Battle Foam's products but they are too pricy. To finish packing up my Tau army I need several foam pieces/trays to do the following:

2" deep foam trays to fit 150 2" x 1" rectangles (pre-cut or pluck foam)
2 1/2" deep foam trays to fit 4 Hammerheads, 3 devilfish, and 5 pirahnas (could cut these myself)

Does anyone know where I can fine foam in the right sizes to do this? I have a foam cutter (that thing with the wire that gets hot) and I don't mind cutting my own foam for the vehicles but I want either pre-cut or pluck foam for the troop trays. Thank you.

Something to note is pluck foam is never as space efficient as laser cut, since the 'walls' between slots end up bigger. You might think you're saving money by buying cheaper pluck foam only to end up spending more due to simply buying more trays than you would have getting laser cut trays.

Yeah, well with battlefoam it will cost me $31 for 50 troops. I want something cheaper than that.

I need to get myself a decent army transporter before i get any more models. I'm sick of building stuff up and painting it all careful, then breaking stuff because I'm transporting my models in a cardboard box.

I vote for making a magnetic troop holder. There should be a tutorial on how to do it somewhere in painting and modeling. it involves a snapware case and metal shingles. The entire case would probably be under $10.

I use 2 of these. Each one fits about 80 infantry on 25 mm bases It can hold more if you mod the pluck foam and the case in general.

Got them on sale for $10 and $11.50 but at $15 you still can not go wrong. you can fit 160 infantry in them for about $30.

I have a KR case and they are good, however i am just about to pick up a battle foam PACK.

Things im not to fond of with the KR cases are the soft foam so the trays bend when held at one end, the dividing walls for the pluck foam are very flimsy and the adhesive gives way after a bit of use. It also does not have hard walls so doesnt protect overly well, i get a breakage every time i take it out!

Still very good cases if you are on a budget.

I thought of getting the KR bags not too long ago, but ended up with the Battlefoam PACKs after reading a bit into the differences. The battlefoam PACKs are super sturdy and I love them - if I was just taking them to game, I'd probably be ok with the cheaper KR. But I'm moving over a thousand miles away so I wanted something to better protect my fragile Ork and Dark Eldar bits.

KR all the way.

Best Place? Dunno.

I enjoy my Battle Foam, though.

What type of foam is used to make the foam trays for fiures? I want to eBay some so I can make my own trays for my vehicles with a foam knife. Thank you.

It was probably coincidence, but the month after I emailed them about the Land Speeder Storm, they released the foam try for them.

I use KR Multicase foam and I'm very happy,

Oh, their customer service is top notch. I ordered the Ravenwing Battleforce set in a card case, and then I ordered a second card case and Kaiser bag the next day (I ended up getting a check back from something that I wasn't anticipating, if I remember correctly), and they not only added the two orders together, but included the discount I would have received if I ordered everything together. I didn't ask them to do it, they just noticed I had placed two orders and contacted ME about it before they ran my card.

KR have no tray with the inclusion of the new "Wraithguard/Blades" - so I was wondering what size fits them?

Is it the same as Terminators?

Without knowing the spec, look for the 6x6 and 3x6-slot trays.
These are the Terminator trays, I think, and the fewer holes on the tray, the bigger they'll be.
I use those for 40mm bases, which I have to top-and-tail to get them to fit, but they hold well, and should be fine.
But, make sure you get the thicker trays. I think it is the F3 trays you'll want.
