Ok, so I'm not really sure if this is really one for YMDC since - in my eyes at least - the RAW of it is pretty clear. If you take Codex Iyanden, you can give a model that already has a Ghosthelm the Helm of Xellethon. Since both are wargear items with specific effects, rather than a weapon with a profile that must be declared as being used, you can use both at the same time, right...?

It's just that... well... how can the model be wearing two helmets?! RAW is silly sometimes.

There's nothing to say that it replaces the Ghosthelm, so they both work fine in conjunction.

It's obviously a Ghosthelm of Xellethon.

Not really contributing to the discussion, but that made me LOL and get some strange looks from the people around me. I think from now on, I'll be referring to that particular piece of war gear as 'Daz Boot of Xellethon'.

Actually it is because there are no rules restricting the amount of "helmets" one model can use.

Just like Combat Familiar allows the owning model to make 2 additional attacks. People get hung up on the name. If it was called "Judo Chop" and allowed the model to make 2 additional str4 ap- attacks, there would have been less of an issue.

So yes, pretend its a ghost hat with a feather of xellethon stuck in it as the names don't matter, the actual rules do.

Well modeling it (or lack of modeling it) might cause an issue with the WYSIWYG crowd.

For modeling you could always just model an additional helmet to their belt area or something similar.

Is a more ornate helmet out of the question? Either give the guy a better pained helmet or model it a bit different to the norm, that should keep everyone happy.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

For what it's worth - this is exactly what I'm doing. But just as a happy coincidence, I hadn't planned on using the Helm before seeing the new book.

Reminds me of the Cheat card in Star Munchkin

However it seems more likely that the model has a special helmet that has the effects of both rules...

I don't want to imagine the helmet hair you'd get from that.

I suggest making a giant helmet for this model (kinda like Dark Helmet) and claiming one helmet is big enough to fit over the other and the he's wearing both.

Actually, thinking about it, the Medieval Great Helm was often worn over the top of another open faced helmet. Either a mail coif, or a close fitting solid helm. The great helm was great for protection while on a horse, but as soon as you were on foot your visibility dropped to zero, so you would discard the outer helmet and still have the open faced portion to keep your head in roughly one piece.
