Reece tries out a new mechanized Dark Angels list he has been working on that uses Black Knights and a Librarian as key elements. Frankie tries out a new Chaos/Daemon list that emphasizes speed and overwhelming threats.

We've been sneaking a lot of 40K in lately between the duties of running the store, plus a lot of folks have been challenging my Eldar!

I'm a big fan of the hellion/baron/seer squad but would like to see how that list fares against a more competitive list. Those BA really had no chance from the get go.

Good trades: 8!!

Maulerfiends are a threat. Invisible Maulerfiends can be a game changer. Get some sorcerers into that chaos list to cast telepathy powers.

Great battles. The Eldar army was great. I'm thinking of running something very similar, except Wraithlords instead of War Walkers. Kinda want to take a Talos instead of a Ravager, but its honestly not that good of an idea. But more monstrous creatures IS fun. Love to see you use Hellions. Can't wait to see them painted. What combat drugs did you roll for them?

@just2fierce

I have a game lined up against a hard core tournament Tau list and a very strong player with a tested Draigowing list is coming to challenge the Eldar tomorrow. So, in the next few weeks we should have some more tough games lined up to really see what the list can do.

@DarthDiggler

Invisibility on Maulerfiends is pretty solid, I had not considered that.

@Tanuvein

I rolled up +1 WS, which was awesome. ALl the drugs are so good for those guys. The run boost is the least useful but still good. And yeah, they are gorgeous models! I really like them for the rules and the looks.

The Wraithlords haven't been doing so great for me so far, but I don't think they are bad by any means.

That BA list had no chance IMHO.

@jy2

I have been playing WAY more than I usually do. I have just been having a lot of fun with Eldar. Usually we're too busy with the store. But, we got caught up on most of our work and right now we're largely just waiting for the rest of our Eldar stuff to come in so we can ship it out. GW is lagging hard on production.

But yes, I look forward to the game! Flamers or any kind are no bueno for my list so this should be an excellent challenge.

@CaptKaruthors

Yeah, I almost felt bad when we put our armies down. Mike is a really good dude and a very good painter but this was our first game together so I didn't know what to expect. I asked him what kind of army he wanted to play and he said he wanted a tournament list.

It isn't fun to win big or lose big most of the time, so I kind of wish I would have brought a less powerful list, but hey, he is going to a GT with us (Anime Expo) and so it is probably better to see his army's weaknesses now than at the event. He can make adjustments this way.

This may be a bad question since I havent been playing much lately. But why not choose to fall back from dreadnought with the hound unit due to the fact he cannot hurt the dread. Or do I have the rules wrong here?
You risk the sweeping advance, but probably worth it.

I believe the Hound is Fearless, or some variation thereof, so can't fall back.

Arguably the worst BA list I've ever seen. I know that sounds super mean, but for real that was hard to watch.

Yeah i felt really bad for the BA player just from the start, as an ex BA player i could tell you all the reasons why his list was going to die to Reecius eldar but he is an amazing painter and since hes just starting to actually play it's understandable, but if he wants to play in tournaments i'd strongly urge him to seek advice

IMO, and this may be somewhat of a stereotype, but painters usually aren't as competitive because they pick models in an army that they like based on aesthetics rather than the stats or how it synergizes with the rest of the army.

There are many exceptions of course (i.e. Reece), but that is how I usually perceive the good 40K painters. My army looks damn cool rather than my army will beat your face in.

In the first game, you should have continue to roll the dread vs dog combat. Dameonic instability could wipe out that unit if you win combat every turn.

Nice vidreps. Question though, I thought multiassaulting lost the attack bonus not special rule bonus like furious charge. Though str5 wouldn't have helped on the dread's AV...

@hyvmynd

Very true but by that time I had no troops close by to actually take the objective.

@mrwhoop

It does, you're correct. The Herald was Str5 base from the Juggernaut, which is how he blow up the tank.
