So I'm painting up an infinity commission for a friend, who wanted space ship deck plating style bases... One eBay stop later and the style of base was secured.. But how to paint them?

Being Nomads, he wanted a used, dirty look... But with an infinity slant..

I've used salt weathering a fair few times, so that was my first stop.. But to give it that extra pop I thought I'd finally give the day glow pigments a whirl... And they certainly didn't disappoint !

Www.forgedmonkey.com was the source of the pigments, and the results were stunning !

Those are some nice bases, what company made them? I was not expecting the explosion of color after the first pic but I like them both with and without the bright colors.

Have a look on eBay for sulaco bases... Not sure who makes them, but that was the item name.

Cheers !

I've been wanting to give these a whirl for a while... and as there's not much coverage online of their use.. I thought I'd share it with the community... they really do work.. and work really really well..

The best bit about them is that if your not happy with the outcome you can just wash it off... which is a big releif... the number of times I've finished a mini and then painted the OSL afterwards with my heart in my mouth knowing that one slip will mess up the entire thing.. well.. its a big relief and alot more care free than that !

Now I just hope that the finished models will do the bases justice !

And here's a few examples of the effect on some warmachine models I painted up (tabletop standard) for beasts of war

Anyone know a good source for pigments like that in the States?

Shipping for a $6.00 package of pigment from forgedmonkey looks like about $10.00.

: Because I'm sure as hell not going all the way over there to kill you.

Those look great, do you just apply them like normal pigments?

I think they are Fenris Games Arc bases:

The Sulaco ones are a bit more 'griddy'

Both sets are very nice bases - http://www.fenrisgames.com/shop.html and available in multiple sizes
