Well I allmost finished up painting up all my armies to 1500 points. That's Dark Angels, Vostroyans, Eldar, Orks and Chaos.

So now I've been thinking of starting on something new. Well at least with painting a Troop choise/HQ. But I have a hard time choosing wich army.
I really enjoyed painting my Vostroyans and Orks... Well mostly because I finally know how to blend skin to look pretty decent with my last few Ork Boys and Company Command Squad.

I'm a bit hesitant with Grey Knights and Space Wolves as they are Marines all over again basicly. Plus the GK are all silver.
Plus I have been walking around with these color schemes for Tau and Nids in my head.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

Voted Space Wolves. They may be "Power Armor" but they are very different from the usual.

They have furs, jewels, insignia, runes, bones, etc. They have lots and lots of different details where you can go wild

But my second vote goes to Tyranids if you want something Really, really different!

If you got excited about blending skin and have a color scheme in your head, then go nids!

The colors in my head actually would work quite well with both the Tyranids an the Tau.

For Tyranids:
Basecoat the carpace Khorne Red, then wash it with Druchii Violet or Drakenhoff nightshade. Put a layer of slightly watered down Khorne Red over that. Then folowing it up with a highlight of Wazdakka Red, then another highlight layer Evil Suns Scarlet and after that the last highlight layer of Troll Slayer Orange

For the skin I want to use Zandri dust, then Ushabti Bone and then a last layer or Screaming skull. Not sure wich shade. Plus adding little dots or zebra marks to the skin with Tuskgor Fur or Doombull brown

For Tau:
Basecoat the clothe Celestra grey and work it up to Ulthuan Grey/WhiteScar

For the Armor it's the same as the Nids. but just highlighting the edges up to Troll slayer orange in a gradiƫnt.

The only problem with Nids. I don't really like the Genestealers.
Ehhr do Nids only have the Hive Tyrand or Tervigon as a HQ? At least the GW site says so.

Nids all the way! They are heaps of fun to paint. Don't worry about not liking genestealers, plenty of other troops to take, and as for the HQ, as well as the hive tyrant and tervigon we have Tyranid Prime (basically a bigger warrior), or the special characters (Swarmlord or Parasite of Mortrex). The parasite doesn't have a model but makes for a fun conversion opportunity

I voted tau. it's a bit different from what you've done so far and they'll be easy to use for allies for practically any other army you already have. win-win

Closed the Poll. Nids won the poll. So I got myself an Tervigon to start up with.

Aw, missed the poll. Was gonna suggest Dark Eldar, as they have a lot of flesh you could continue to practice on as well as very unique models. There vehicles, while the most annoying to assemble, are the most fun to paint, imo.

I was gonna say DE, too. They're pretty unique and you don't see them as much.

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

They are fun to paint as long as you don't impale yourself on one of the spikes.
