First, let me apologise for any grammar or spelling mistakes I'm on my phone.

My question after I've been on the first 10 pages of Google searches is this, what should a unit of noise marines look like? I'm going to be using them as troops I have a slaanesh lord mixed into my bikers to make them troops and I'm playing a heavy gun line list. I'm doing iron warriors but I'm going to put some noise marines behind an aegis defense line. I'm just not sure what a proper unit should look like. I'm definitely leaning towards the shooting but I don't know if all sonic blasters or a blast master or what I should be doing to bolster my shooting. With the addition of these Marines it will double my troops choices but I'm not surd what unit sizes and make up should look like or if I even have the idea of noise marines correct...

I run them in one of two formats:

5 man units with a blastmaster (possibly in a rhino with havoc launcher)

10-15 man units with sonic blasters, doom siren, and Icon of Excess.

The small units sit in the back and drop str 8 ap 3 blasts from across the board. The large unit advances on an objective and kills infantry.

+1 this.

For added comedy, stick in Lucius to your 15 man squad with the doom siren and a chaos lord with the burning brand.

3 ap 3 template and 28 bolter shots make most units go home. The templates are as good as hit and run for making sure you don't get tied down in cc. I've taken out the front 8 marines of a charging squad before.

Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

28 bolter shots? They are salvo 3 at this point. So 14 sonic blasters x 3 is 42 bolter shots. It REALLY makes most units go home once you sit still.

3 shots each only if the unit did not move. Last I checked Noise Marines did not have relentless.

I use bolters on my 15 man squad - I move them forwards every turn and I like keeping the range. I have the blastmaster and his mates with sonic blasters to give me covering fire

I like 9-10 in a rhino with the extra ccw. Champion has single claw and doom siren.

Drive up, disembark, rapid fire & template to face. Next turn either assault or repeat. Makes for a nasty overwatch too.

There is nothing wrong with that. However, I see sonic blasters as a waste with blastmasters in the way I run them. I prefer to keep blastmaster squads close to the board edge. They are fearless, so there is not concern with them breaking and running. So, put them out of harms way and drop blasts on your opponent.

As for my 15 man squad, most deployments have a 24" dead zone. Placing them on the deployment edge means they do not have to move and can still give your opponent pause before advancing. They are more of an area denial weapon than an advance and shoot kind of thing. Now, if there was an IC that had slow and purposeful somewhere you could attach, it would be game over.

Take Huron as your warlord and infiltrate. You are now in range and can take full advantage of your salvo from the start.

Blastmasters are also very amusing for taking out skimmers like hammerheads. Oh whats that? You have a jink save? Not any more. I would treat them much the same as havocs and keep them some where they can get a good view of the board.

Those are awesome. Couldn't you attach a chaos sorcerer rolling on biomancy? ML3 could give you a decent chance of getting endurance to cast on the squad to give them relentless.

I've had success with my 15 NM by just moving forwards to an objective - the bolters can always fire 24", the lurking blastmaster at the back takes a toll (really his sonic blaster mates are only there as ablative wounds and to give deepstrikers pause)

Then I fire 3 ap3 flamers and charge in with 15 men with 2cc weapons, FNP, I5 with Lucius and a lord. Its evil to 3+ armour

Don't forget you have a chance to get the ability that adds +1 to the damage done by sonic weapons.
