So just startin a Dark Eldar army, and I dig their special characters like the duke, urien and lelith (so sad she is S3 with no way to wound easier :C) So! I am looking at using Urien, and am wondering what are considered the best ways to field him... I was planning on running him with 4 grotesques in a raider, which I see has been done before to great effect. As well, at 1500 points is it recommended to take 2 units of grotesques as likely just one will get knocked down early?

In any case, any comments appreciated

I don't run DE but I have been watching battle reports by skaredcast. The guy runs urien and does a great job alway. Honestly they are some of my favorite battle reports to watch. I suggest checking them out on Dakka or YouTube to get ideas. Maybe even message him on here. If I wasn't trying to put together a new army of orks I'd be making DE just cause he makes them look so fun.

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

Either run a unit of 10 or a unit of 4. You need a lot of grots and wracks to use the extra pain tokens.

4 In a raider isnt going to get very far. You will get one move out from behind LOS terrain or first turn. 500 points in one package is a ton and it is av10. So you are going to be walking.

10 is even more points, and you dont get the first turn movement but you can spread out and control the center of the board.

10 is also a huge unwieldy footprint. I'm testing 8 with Baron and an allied Spiritseer.

I add 2 regular Haemy each with a liquifier which is more effective than Urien.

It's a great tide of flesh with a 2+ cover save at toughness five. It takes a lot to shift them.

Only downside is that they are very slow.

Well, I was thinking going urien and 3 haems with liquifiers and venom blades. urien and a haem with one group, 2 haems with the other

How about running both ground grots and raider grots? With Baron and Urien deployed with each unit respectively, Urien and his unit will be 2 PTs, then he still has D3 PT to give, so Baron's grots will definitely be running on FC, and if you're lucky, at least 1 of the units will be running with fearless too! Add in some minimal wracks to give Baron the PT, then you have almost guaranteed-fearless on both!

May not be the best, but might be a fun idea?

It's only 925pts-ish, assuming abberations are using scissorhands...
