What models from Fantasy or 40k would you reccommend to stay away from?
(There are some threads for worst models, but they usually end up centering around just a few minis)

Simple: The ones you don't like.
If you're talking about models that are generally considered problematic, build-wise, the SM Thunderfire Cannon tops the list, from what I've heard. Finecast makes the parts easier to trim and sand than the old metal, but apparently the terrible fit hasn't been addressed, at all, so some serious reworking of major parts is still necessary. It's a shame, since I think the model looks quite spiffy, once built, and I've seen as many people avoid it for the bothersome build as for the price tag.

Stay away from them for what reason? Hard to build? Ugly sculpt? Difficult to paint?
Most those are personal preference... Like everyone, I like some models that other people hate so I don't have anything to add there. But as far as difficulty in building, the old metal Thunderfire Cannon was a notorious pain to construct, but they are hard to come by these days.

And some, I assume, are good people." |

I remember the old metal Gargoyles were a nightmare to put together >.<
On to more modern choices though, I'd still say the hardest model I've come across to build in a dynamic pose has probably got to be the Tau XV8 Battlesuit. Those chicken ankles still haunt me, and on the old metal broadsides... *shudder*

I don't want to be the guy that brings up the models that everyone already talked about but I just picked up a thunderfire cannon and overall it was a pain, even in finecast ( I would hate to have the metal option).
I would personally say just get models you like as that is what I do... maybe that is why I have a ton of models and not that much painted...
Overall, the worst rage from building I would have to say those damn Daemonettes of Slaanesh as my fat fingers and those small parts falling off constantly caused me to actually sell them cause I hated them so much after that.

It was kind of a running inside joke at my FLGS that some guys got me to build 2 chaos dwarves hell cannon things in exchange for 30 NG archers and a tomb king warsphinx...
I didn't find the models that difficult to build. The mold lines, were a mother though.
I shouldn't of offered to include cleaning the mold lines, lol. SO MANY GEARS

Depends really.
I currently hate bloodletters.
1: Body has issues with a horrible gap when joining the legs.
2: The 2 head sections again, have a horrible gap.
3: Making them rank up in a unit is a nightmare, due to huge blades and weird arm possitions.
4: Mould lines are a nightmare, more so on ribbed horns as it takes ages to clean without losing detail.
I just hate them, and im only half way through assembling 60.

When the Thunderfire Cannon went from metal to Finecast, there was a collective sigh of relief across the entire 40k community, for from that day forward, no more toes would be broken by that heavy and frustrating to assemble hunk of metal.
A similar sigh was heard years before, when the sponsons on the Land Raider Crusader were switched from metal to plastic. This time, however, it meant far, far fewer drill bits going through fingers. God that was a nightmare kit.
