I am curious to hear which table other ork players use when determining warlord traits and why. I tend to do personal traits since it seems to usually have the least number of dud choices when I roll (my meta tends to be light on ruins for terrain and I don't do a lot of reserves).

Ork players - what do you tend to use for your warlord trait table and why?

Um, which HQ are you applying it to? Makes a pretty big difference.

I'd be curious in opinions for at least a standard warboss or KFF Big Mek. Also, I'd be curious as to know why it would make such a difference. Getting back into orks and am curious how the HQ wild change the strategy in such a dramatic way (although I can see whazdakka changing things up to this extent).

Well, the Warboss is a combat HQ, so personal table is usually the go-to, there are a lot of useless options for him on there, but if you get Legendary Fighter or Master of Ambush you can really mess up your opponent's day.

KFF Big Mek I'd go with either the 1st or 3rd list, bonus leadership all around is nice, so is stealth and move through cover (ruins) and night fighting makes the KFF save 3+ for 1 turn (against armies that don't just ignore NFing)

I almost always go Command. The one time I went Personal, I got something completely useless..

I use a warboss on a bike.

are you sure it stacks? I was under the impression that it didn't.

Yes the do. Stealth and Shrouded add +1 or +2 to your cover saves and since you have a 5+ from the KFF, it can potentially be a 4+ or 3+ cover, depending on how far away you are. This can also apply to Exhaust cloud I believe. Same with being in cover in general.

Take a painboss from the Deff Dread list in IA 8 to get that without having to roll for it

I like Personal, but that's just because I often run my Warlord at the head of a 20man Blob Squad, and I love scoring the Outflank one.

FNP is also good on said blob

I have been playing against a friend using astronomicon tournament rules which allow you to choose your warlord trait at the beginning of the campaign. I go with night fighter.

I field two Warbosses, each attached to 19 boyz in a battlewagon.

Almost always forget to roll. When I do, I pick the table that gives my dudes furious charge again.

Is it specifically FW? If you allied with any other force you'd still need to take an HQ/troops choice. That would be a weird distinction to make, especially if you're not using any FW models.

The painboss is an HQ for the Deff Dread mob from IA8.

Right... I guess what I mean is that even if it is from a FW product, you're not using any FW-specific models (PB and Spannas can be represented from the main Ork codex model selection with no issues). There are other GW codexes that let you bring allies that completely change the way an Ork army is played (Tau for example gives you much better firepower). It seems like the IA 8 book is an attempt at modernizing the Orks and making them more competitive in 6E, even aside from playing the Deff Dreads as a standalone army.

In addition the PB comes with limitations in that you can't bring a full-sized mob of 30 boyz, which could potentially cause problems with the rest of a footslog list.

What I'm saying is if there was someone who wouldn't allow a Painboss because its rules come from a FW book I would write that person off as a dick and not play with them

Aye, but the same principal applies. Warboss + 30 Boyz arriving behind an ADL will put a cramp in a lot of stuff
