Well, I have finally got around to starting to paint my guardsmen. So far I only have one finished, and I am working on a Chimera with Leman Russ turret, I think it is called a Charnodon or something like that.
Anyway, let me know what you think.

Thanks guys. The heads are from secret weapon miniatures, and the legs are either from that or puppetswar. I will get a definitive answer when I get home on Saturday.

That's a nice look you've got there. The unit symbol and aquila on the gun stand out quite nicely too (I've not seen anyone using that pattern on the gun aquila, which I may steal ^^ ).
Chimera-Russ? You mean like this or this or maybe like this one?

Nicely brown. Good stuff
Thre used to be a Chimera variant with a battlecanon that was probably Chimedon, and went along wth the Chimerax and the Chimerro as chimeras with specialist armaments (multiple HK missiles and autocannon respectively, I think...)

Citadel Journal #11 had the article. Though I can't seem to find an online pdf of it or even any conversions referencing it. ...The conversions did look rather silly though. =P

Yup, that is it. The Chimedon. Mine is coming along nicely, and I am really enjoying how the paint scheme is turning out.
What I did was took a Leman Russ turret, clipped off the turret clips, and glued that onto the bottom part of the Chimera turret. Instant fully functional LR turret that fits on a Chimera. I also did some other conversions to it to make it more rugged looking. It should be done by the end of the week at most. I just got sidetracked by real life for a bit.

They look good, I like the way you have picked out the icon on the gun, I might copy that idea with my guys.
As for Chimera-Russ, something like this you mean?

I might as well post a preview of how the Chimedon is coming along. Backstory wise, the 113th Vali, as I am painting them now, are fighting for their home world after a chaos rebellion took over a good chunk of Vali IV and destroyed Vali VII. For eight months the 113th Vali Mechanized, half of 683rd Vali Armored Calvary, 684th Vali Armored Calvaray, 19th Vali Ordnance, the remnants of 5th Vali Naval wing, and the remaining PDF forces which have now been conscripted into the 5 guard regiments, were the only forces defending against the forces of chaos on the Industrial world, which also was a shrine world of Sanguinius. After those eight months, the Skulls of Sanguinius arrived to reinforce them, and more guard regiments followed a few months after that. I am modeling the forces at the point when the Skulls of Sanguinius Space Marines first made planetfall, and as such, they are very weather beaten from the constant fighting in a toxic environment.
At the beginning of the war, the loyalist forces were very limited in what manufactorums they actually had control of, and needing more armor, the Tech Priests authorized the production of Chimedons, as the forces controlled a plant that produced Leman Russ turrets, but were not in control of the chassis manufacturing facility. Since they controlled a Chimera production plant, as well as had a surplus of PDF Chimera's which were not equipped with combat turrets, Chimedons went into production, and were not deemed to be tech heresy by the Adeptus Mechanicus.
As for the reason for the gas masks, one of the main facilities on the planet was a refinery that produced various toxic chemicals, including those used in the Banewolf, and other toxin weapons. When the chaos forces captured this refinery complex in the beginning phases of the battle, they successfully modified it to vent these toxins into the air, essentially poisoning the atmosphere of the planet, and requiring respirators at all times.
Anyway, here is the preview of the Chimedon, which is still very much a WIP.
As for the heads and legs, here are the links.

Both are very high quality, and I am extremely happy with them. The bases are also from secret weapon miniatures.
