I don't actually know if I'm done with this base or not. I think I'm going to add a lil bit of tuffs on the top and make the shield and helm be under water... I think.

as for the base, maybe consider using a contrasting (or neutral) color for the helm and shield and spread them out a bit? it's an odd hunk of red to have just sitting in the front there. keeps the eye from appreciating the rest of the base.

That base is pretty amazing, as well as the painting. I feel the the shield takes attention away from the phoenix. Either way that is some beautiful work.

@Varl true maybe ill do it a different color... but possibly the water effects will dull down the red some.

While the red shield does tend to grab the eyes a bit, I'd definitely keep it. The monochromatic palette is brilliant.

Very nice work! Looks a lot like buypainted's flamespyre, did you follow his tutorial? (not trying to belittle you, that's exactly what I would've done hehe)

@requiem yes it is like buypaintings with slightly diffrent colors. He does brillant work and you can learn a ton from him.

Excellent, I don't see any issues with the base at all, I thought maybe a contrasting cooler color range... but then studied the photos again and it just didn't matter: the model itself is so strong, and the base participates well, invokes an environment, but does not compete with the model. This is a great piece!

very vibrant! this is an awesome model and at times makes me wish I played WHFB.

@Brokksamson I feel the same way on wishing I played WHFB. Im not sculpting a Wood elf Treekin army so we will see if I like the game.

The Phoenix itself is of course one hell of an awesome miniature! REALLY great job!!!

I still feel like the base is missing something, I really think its just tufts of grass 2 up top and 1 on the bottom by the shields maybe some coming out of the rocks.
