I have a terminator heavy army, and I plan on having a master of the forge and a model in terminator as my HQ choices, but I cant decide between calgar, darneth Lysander, random chapter master, random captain. and I was wondering if maneus calgar is even worth the money, both hobby wise and playerwise

I'd try and pick him up by himself on ebay or something, rather than the whole box. He's the only terminator armoured model in the box, so the rest won't fit your theme, even though the honour guard are nice enough models.

I got stupid insane lucky on mine, some was getting rid of a box they got with a few mess ups on the casting and his friend never got back to them on the cash so they sold the wgole set to me for $15! Now calgar is def awesome, but like posted above he's the only termie so check eBay, heck maybe you can even catch old metal calgar

He is a pretty cool model, and the Honour guard are beautiful sculpts. The banner in particular is a joy to paint. If you like painting and awesome models, they are wrth it. Plus, they come with Artificer Armour so have 2+ save like everyone else, and make for great Captains and Sergeants.


If you plan to use them, be sure to replace the Champion's combat knife with a Bolt pistol as it gives him all the benefits, with a ranged attack, for free.

It's a nice set of models, but $20 per model? No. Get the price from a US discounter like Discount Games Store before you buy, check ebay... and so on. Just don't pay the ridiculous GWAU prices. If you do, they'll keep charging it.

Yikes, 102$ AU? That's insane, and I'm sorry you have to feel that kind of pain from GW.
I wouldn't even look @ it for 102$.

Yeah, just buy calgar himself, there's not much point to that entire command box unless you want all the other stuff in it.

What everyone else has said, but try and avoid metal. It's insufferable how it keeps chipping, I much prefer finecast in that.

A hit of gloss varnish, then a hit of dullcoat, and it won't chip again unless you drop it on concrete. Repeatedly.

There's flaws to metal models, chipping isn't one of them if you do even basic protective coats of varnish.
