Hello everyone,

First time being a member of a forums for a long time, but I did remember to first use the search bar to see if my question was already answered. Unfortunately, my query skills are a bit rusty. So, could anyone help a new wargamer out? I am in need of some guidance about these Havoc squads of space marines. I wish to deck these monsters out with Lascannons...unfortunately....Lascannon parts for a space marine can be a pain to get a hold of. Is it against the rules to run, normal looking space marines but kit them out, also letting your opponent know that they are a squad of havocs. Sorry if this is an extremely common question, cuz I'm sure it is, but if I could get a quick answer I'd much appreciate it.

CHEERS!

The normal rules are WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). So if you mean buying chaos marines and kitting them out with las cannons (which can be home made) then that I fine.

There is no problem using Loyalist marine models for the basis of a Chaos Marine squad. Part of the fluff is that there are many defections of loyalist Marines to fill the ranks of the Traitors. Alternatives are to use the loyalist weapons on Chaos models, or convert the loyalist marines in some way to indicate their move away from the Imperial Creed. They could be misguided fools in which case they may not even want to deface their imperial iconography.

Provided its abundantly clear to your opponent what they represent, no-one will particuarly mind.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

You mention Space Marines and Havocs so it's not 100% clear on your meaning, do you mean Chaos SM Havocs or Loyalist SM Devastators?

Specifically re. lascannons, you can buy them as linked above, or on ebay or other bits sellers. You can convert vehicle or other lascannons for use to with a little work. Scratch building las cannons is an option but a lot of work. There are 3rd party bits makers that sell weapons, some of which might be suitable counts as lascannons.

We all feel your pain with this problem, be it meltas, plasmas, lascannons, autocannons, sniper rifles... so many bits that are made 1 per kit yet you want 5 ; p

I just used Space Marine lascannons and power packs, but added some Chaos bits to make them look a little more corrupted:
