This year I will be running my town's warhammer 40k camp and need to buy paint supplies. I have a budget of $200 to buy a wide variety of paints that offer kids the ability to paint their miniatures adequately (most of them will be beginners not experts). Any advice on which paints I should buy would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what will be painted really, if there is some sort of theme involved (everyone doing ultramarines) it'd be alot easier than trying to pick up a common pallette for a nid/necron/blood angel/ultramarine/pony mix.

GW paints make a good entry point with the new Base - Layer - Shade - Dry - Glaze system its a nice progression with the paints labelled clearly as to their functions. Vallejo is cheaper and in some ways better but as it comes in dropper bottles you then need to provide pallettes and stuff.

I'd strongly consider buying craft paints (Delta Ceramcote or Apple Barrel) for basing, white, and black. While some of the chromatics are ok, there's no reason not to grab earth tones, white, black, and greys in far cheaper, larger bottles.

Are you just trying to enterain them, or actually teach them techniques?
