OK now after you are done laughing at the fact that I called people a Master Painter.....thiiiink about it.....say the words closer together......ok....anywho.

I paint dragons....really...REALLY well. I have done a green one and the first time it came out all Legand of Zelda...Wind Wakery....Toony looking lol.

I have done a greenish blue and a blue dragon that looks simply amazing as well as a semi successful Ebonwrath from reaper before the model got turned into plastic.

One time when I did a red one...I got the base red and the scale base colors down...for some reason the red did not seem right. Its the reaper model of the red dragon guy and that metal armor on its face and a guy riding on it with a flag or whatever.

Than I tried to do something different to see if I could get the red to look better and no matter what I did to it...I tried like 5 different layers of red and other stuff to make it look right and nothing worked.

The same thing with the rider. The rider has like 10 coats of paint because no matter what color I choose and how I seemed to apply it. IT ALL LOOKED LIKE CRAP!

I am a guy who took some of the Mankyist modests on the whole planet....iron wind or something like that. They were for some old game that no one on the entire planet ever played called "road Kill" They were Swat teams and I managed to make those misshapen and warped faces and ugly no detailed weapons and bodies look really REALLY good for what the model was. I doubt golden deamon and P3 Grand masters could not do a much better job making those Piles of Bile look better than mine....at least by much.

But I couldn't make this one look anything....I...I get angry everytime I look at it.

Does this happen to even the best of painters I wonder? Does it?
Does it ever happen to you where you paint a model and...wait...its not right and you CANNOT make it right?!

I am Terrified to paint another dragon red because of how this worked out the first time.

Yep, it happens. Sometimes you just have to strip it and start again... Sometimes, several times.

I wouldn't call myself a master painter, but I would say that I'm well above average and when I take my time I can produce models that are of a quality only slightly below he gw showcase models...but I can't. Paint. Lucius the Eternal. I just can't, it is impossible for some reason for me to make that mini look good. He is my unicorn,

I'm not bad at painting, but before I couldn't paint a plaguedrone well, I tried a few schemes all failing until I found one which just worked and all turned out nicely, but after the first lot of attempts it was about 3 months before I dared to tackle them again.

I cannot even count the times that paint just was not going well. I once based two entire squads of DKOK with Army painter, only to have them do the "fuzzing", and that is after EVERY precaution. Just like anything constructive, good days and bad days are aplenty.

All the time!
I dont consider myself a master painter by any means, but would say I'm above the novice level.
I find so many things can put me off my game so to speak, usually something else in life seemingly unrelated tbh.
If you're painting and realise that youre not in the zone.. perhaps its time for a break or to stop the session entirely quite often I will sit down to paint and just find myself looking at it for a while and then decide not to lol!

- its not like the average monkey work job that can be done alseep. Its a creative art form. Your personal physical or emotional state, can and will drastically affect the work quality (in both good and bad ways). Do you imagine that Picasso couldve just sat down at any time and banged out a master piece?
Far from it! It takes lots of planning, thinking and experimenting before you start to get to that point in a project tbh.... allthough I dare say its not totally unknown for people to just be a godamned creative genius everytime they every try

I'm no master painter, but there have been definite days where I have felt like everything I've touched has turned to garbage and days where everything comes out just as I envisioned.

It's just a matter of working through it.
