Now that we no longer have to worry about wound allocation shenannigans, I was wondering what the current wisdom was for wargear configureation. I've been scavenging bikes here and there and presently have enough for a warboss, mad dok/pain boy, and about 6 bikers. - Thx!

I like 9 w/ 2 warbosses so the unit starts fearless.

Fearless isn't all that great if they won't be fearless by the time they take morale checks

I've got eight of these things nearly completed. Two have kombi-skorchas and big choppas more because of the modelling aspect than if this is worth taking. One will be a painboy, will take banner and bosspole.

How many klaws do you guys reckon should be added to that?

Last time I ran them:

10 nobs
2 claws
3 bosspoles
Waagbanner
3 big shoppas
10 cybork
10 kombi scourga

Those flamers are amazing. for only 50 points you get yourself burnas on wheeles. Usually they will use their dakkaguns, but if something is clumped up or in heavy cover its very devastating with 10 heavy flamers. Also, the poor enemy who decides to assault them will face a 10xD3 str 5 hits in his face.

Yeah, I've started putting flamers on all my meganobs. Hard to beat!

Check the FAQ. The Painboy can't take the regular nob wargear, so no banner or bosspole on him, unfortunately.

For PKs I'd probably go with 2-3. They get expensive really fast, so I'd keep the number down.

I appreciate the ideas guys. Still sounds like mixed units are best, though for different reasons than before.

I don't take more than 7 Bikes with my Warboss. 3 PKs (including the Warboss's) is plenty. Everybody but the Painboy gets a Kombi-Skorcha. Makes your opponent real hesitant to assault the unit with anything less than a Dreadnaught. +2 Strength Big Choppas have the exact same chance to wound a MEQ on the charge as the Slugga/Choppa combo, but are better when when charged or in subsequent rounds of combat, and threaten high Toughness and Armour. As is:

Warboss: Warbike, PK, Kombi-Schorcha, Attakk Squig, Bosspole, Cybork

Nob Bikers: Stikkbommz, Warbike, Cybork Body
Painboy: Dok's Tools, 'Urty Syringe
Nob1: Kombi Skorcha, Power Klaw, Waaagh! Banner
Nob2: Kombi Skorcha, Power Klaw, Bosspole
Nobz: Kombi Skorcha, Big Choppa

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time.

I always take 9 + PB all with Cybork.

One has PK, Banner, and BP at Double FOC with 2 BikerBosses attached.

At 1999+1 and less, I add in another PK.

So 7-8 are essentially naked Cybork Bikers at 50 pts each for wound absorption. The only thing that ever charges them are other NBikerz and demon units.

I don't like the points spent on BC, Stikkbombz, or Combi-Skorchas. The points are better spent on more bodies: more wounds and more Dakka. The Twin Dakkagun is just too good for offense and defense to justify a possible use of a Kombi/Skorcha. Also it takes an Attack away like the BC does. Stickbombz are almost never useful since FC no longer grants Int bonus.

Out of the over 50 games since 6th came out, my NobBikerz have only lost once. It was against an Iron Arm MC Heavy Min/Max Tyranid list.

Full diclosure: I alsl run 5 MegaNobz with Grotsnik in a Trukk so I have plenty of other PK's to go around. Otherwise I might run more PK's with the Bikerz.

Fighting crime in a future time!

I meant it as "I have a painboy, and will soon have a bosspole and banner in the unit", should have worded it better I admit

Thats a damn good point mate. The few times I've used my Nob Bikers they tend to get stuck in a combat (my fault not theirs) so this is probably something that would benefit them

If we are talking about a unit of 10 nobs
2 claws
1 bosspole
1 Waagbanner
2 big choppas
10 cybork
If you have the points kombi skorcha on the all.

PKs are cool but I feel more then 2 is over kill.
With such low leadership you need a bosspole
WS 5 lets you hit most units on a 3+
Big choppas are very cheap for the extra str
This unit is such a large target they need an ++ save
The skorchas can make for some nasty overwatch!
