CSM.
Because they are fun to play.
They are fun to paint, so many schemes and alternatives.
They have great conversion potential.
And the most important reason: because who would worship a rotting corpse?

Killing is easy. Being politically correct is a pain in the ass...

First of all I really like their fluff with the idea that they might be fighting for the Emporer instead of the Imperium.
I used to have mine noncorrupted but with 6th and as time went on I jumped in with chaos all the way.
I kind of like the Dinobots but I do wish we had more LR choices.

For me its gotta be necrons,

I love their fluff and painting them is easy and rewarding. Seeing nigh lifeless metal automatons marching ceaslesly forward with no hope of victory is just cool.

2nd choice would be thousand sons tho. Love their fluff just wish they were better rules wise.

My favorite army is the Tau Empire. At first I dident realy like them (Or any of the armies) but I had to chose one army to start with, So I looked at the armies for a few days and a friend said Tau looked good, So I looked at them some more and grew to liking their looks, so I got them as my first army, And after reading their fluff, I realy liked it. And as time went on I grew to liking Tau more and more and now I just think they are absolutely awesome! (And not as friendly as some people think..=P)

Chaos Space Marines.

So much personality and conversion fodder in every model, the possibilities are endless.

Also, they have a Skull Throne. Can't beat that.

War Kitten- Nothing evens the odds like a reaper chainsword to the naughty bits
Sgt. Vanden- And now I'm a whale with panties. Can't see how this day can get any better.

Imperial Guard, always has been and always will be. Being in the military may help with this reason but primarily its the idea of a regular soldier with inadequte equipment willing to sacrafice their lives for protecting the Imperium of man as a whole. They stand up and fight against more powerful opponents in almost every fight they come across the known universe and die by the millions, but without them even the pansy power armor space marines would stand no chance

So hard to pick! The 40k universe is just that awesome.

I have said many many times that anything not Imperial has some place in my heart (used to say "imperial or orks", but I've come around to accepting them, even if they're not my favorite faction).

Picking one, has to be Tau Empire. I love their look, even though I'm not a big anime fan. I love mechwarrior so their suits are a given; except the new stealth suits, take the old ones any day. Love their tactics since I never understood why people charge forward into close combat when there's perfectly good guns available. Love the fact they're actually "the one sane man", and that they're such a massive underdog faction.

I guess it's pretty much the fact they're so different than everything else in 40k. They're this little bright spot that makes the rest of the big dark universe look so much more over the top and ridiculously awesome.

Oh, and this:

Dark Eldar.

Great fluff, compared to grey knight fluff it turns from great to godly.
Amazing models, no one can deny that the dark eldar have one of the best model ranges of any army.
Great gameplay, I really feel like I accomplish something when I win with them because everything fits into a plan.
Fun to paint, lots of nice edge highlights.

Downside.....Pointy.

Orks, because ORKS!

I got into playing orks back when they had mohawks and bolters, because my brother wanted to play space marines and bought me a box so that he would have someone to beat down. RT orks were full of character, even if the sculpts were a bit dodgy at times.

I've played Orks ever since, in Epic, Regular 40K and BFG (also bloodbowl and Gorka Morka )

Orks iz Awesome..

I miss the old ork cybernetics tables though, as i have a number of painstakingly converted cybers. They still make good indicators that the ork has Cybork body though

I've tried pretty much every army over the years but the only ones that stuck around were daemons and imperial guard. Those two are my favourites for (obviously) very different reasons.

Daemons because they can get right in my opponents face on turn one for a turn two charge (the lessers usually deep strike for a turn 3/4 charge).

IG for the tanks and artillery. Basically the ability to drop pie plates all over my opponent's army and then plasma them to death when they get closer

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Tau, their fluff and models stood out to me when I was starting and I liked the idea of a strictly shooting army.

Even as a Guard player, my vote lies with Orkz.

Such a well rounded army; fluff, appearance, play style, variety, and the whole package/execution is second to none in my opinion.

I genuinely find all the armies interesting, except maybe Dark Eldar, they just dont do it for me. I am working on my first army that is Tau, but my favorites are probably Sisters of Battle but they are just too expensive to collect, even through ebay. Dunno why they are my favorite, I always used to play them on Dawn of War

Of the two armies I collect: I have to say my Dark Angels are my favorite. I just love the flexibility you have. There is no reason you need to run the same list twice. Ravenwing one day, Deathwing the next. Mix the third, then run Greenwing on the fourth.

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

I play CSM and I'd probably say they're my favourite faction in the fluff as well. Runners up would be Imperial Guard and the Eldar race as a whole. That said I like pretty much all the factions with the exception of Tau (too Gundam, seems out of place in the setting), and SoB (Nuns with guns never blew my hair back).

Fav army playing wise. Really loving the daemons compared to the marines, so much more fluid and mobile really do not think I can go back to a gun line army either now.

Fluff wise, hmmmm, Eldar
