IG, because unlike Space Marines, they do know fear, and have inadequate armor and weapons. But in spite of this, they continue giving their lives to protect the imperium...

That, and I get to run about 250 infantry in an average game

Chaos Daemons. The writhing mess, disappearing, spawning, retching monstrosities. The reality of the daemons that ignore physics, ignore what is to be. Beasts that dissipate on death.... So limited yet so powerful... and all they are are the emotions of everyone.

All my armies have a unique quality I love about them. Sisters of Battle, Order of the Argent Shroud is my favorite. Followed up by Chaos Space Marines, The Cleaved.

My favorite army is the Tau Empire. At first I dident realy like them (Or any of the armies) but I had to chose one army to start with, So I looked at the armies for a few days and a friend said Tau looked good, So I looked at them some more and grew to liking their looks, so I got them as my first army, And after reading their fluff, I realy liked it. And as time went on I grew to liking Tau more and more and now I just think they are absolutely awesome! (And not as friendly as some people think..=P)

They're only as friendly as you wish your sept/army to be. I got mine brainwashing entire IG regiments to fight for them.

Flower Picking Eldar Youth

Though I do have a clear all time favorite I honestly love each 40k army in some fashion. I've warmed up to marines and the imperium as a whole a lot more over time but I've always been a xenos lover.

Eldar-Easily my top favorite. I adore elves in all their forms. Seeing them so beautifully translated to a sci-fi universe is astounding to me. They have a beautiful and unique look to their armor and weaponry and their fluff is interesting and deep. I'm so fascinated with how the Eldar mind works. Plus I love psychic powers.

Dark Eldar- A great take on the archetyical dark elf. More fantastic fluff and downright evil. They have my favorite model line as well.

Orks- Boy do I love the orks. They're hilarious, fun, and sooo bad ass. Another great example of GW perfectly translating a fantasy trope into a sci-fi universe

Chaos- I love the chaos gods. Each of them! Khorne and Tzeentch fight for top but Khorne usually wins on most days. I love the daemonic model line and the look of each unit. They also have the bonus of being my first 40k army.

Necrons- When I picture an Overlord fighting I imagine General Grievous from the original Star Wars animated tv show. Robot skellies in space with mysterious unknown technology. What's not to love?

1. Sisters of Battle. I love the medieval mentality of fanatic zealot nuns. As a historian that appeals to me. I also like how they're Imperial, but kinda quirky. I always like the underdogs. For me, the Eclisiarchy captures the Gothic vibe of the setting more than any other army. Even with the crappy excuse of a Codex, they're surprisingly fun to play.
2. Imperial Fists. It's the never surrender, Spartan astetic to them. (Spartan as in, simple, rugged, practical, not shouting in speedos) They're stern dudes that will do whatever it takes. I have a techmarine heavy list, Master of the Forge with a ton of dreadnaughts, Thunder fire cannon and two tech marines to fix stuff. Competitive? Maybe not. Fun? Absolutely.

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

Yes I know the feel, noting like seing your Grey Hunters, or Thunder wolves tear appart enemy squads. Or your Rune priest unleash a catastropic hurricane upon the xenos

crunch: Eldar. Even civilians are like Rambos shooting guns from the hip with double the rof of normal guns, and 500x fluff wise.

fluff: Tau all the way. Finally some race that's got THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR BUTTS!!. Seriously, why does everyone have fancy swords when you can have guns to shoot with.
