Now I am building my Hive Tyrant with a Bonesword and Lash Whip and I have no idea what of the two following weapons to give it. A Heavy Venom Cannon or Twin-linked Devourers with Brainleech Worms. Now I Fight 8 main armies: CSM, DA, Tau, IG, Eldar, SM, DE and Orks. My main problem is against IG because my opponent always uses 2 squadrons of 3 Leman Russ. One consists of 2 Battle Cannons and an Executioner Cannon. The other is two Battle Cannons again and a Punisher Cannon. My Swarmlord just gets blown apart even when he was 3 Tyrant Guard and being T9 due to Iron Arm. His Infantry just hide behind many buildings put together like a fortress in one corner which means I can't easily deep strike in with the DoM in a Mycetic Spore. My Gaunts also get ripped to shreds. My Zoanthropes just fluff everything against his tanks always rolling a perils and getting a 1 to hit or to penetrate. My Tyrannofex doesn't do too bad. The other armies are mainly infantry besides my brother's Eldar tanks bull so should I just make them interchangeable? Any feedback is much Appreciated ~ Deathmaster Snikch

They are coming! I feel them scratching inside my mind, scratching, screaming, running, so many...so, so many voices. They're coming for us - flesh, body and soul!

What do you get if you attach a laser sight to a Lasgun? Twin-linked!

You would have better use with the Twin-linked Devoureres. My question is, what do you want your HT to do? I would say give him two sets of Twin-linked Devoureres instead of the Bonesword and Lash Whip.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

A Tyrant with Armoured Shell and two sets of twin-linked Devourers is very effective and surprisingly resilient.

If you really want to use the Bonesword and Lash Whip though (and who could blame you, it's iconic and looks awesome) then I would recommend going with a Stranglethorn Cannon rather than Heavy Venom Cannon (the Tyrant becomes a slightly weaker Biovore for a while).

You can also go with just one set of Devourers, which is not entirely without logic if you end up with Witchfire powers from Biomancy.

On a somewhat related note, if six pie plates from those LRBTs are giving you problems, consider giving your Tyrant(s) Wings (and maybe even going with a Harpy as well) to avoid the worst of the incoming fire (and then destroy the vehicle squads in assault or from behind with Devourers). Or use Mawlocks. They are surprisingly good as demolishing turtled players.

99/100 people will tell you Devourers but I actually run a HVC with BS/LW. Add on every upgrade, Armoured Shell. Its pricey, but my god is it resilient and murders EVERYTHING.

TL Devourers are normally the best way to go. However, whereas many people use two sets, I still like to go with LW/BS, especially if it's a footslogging Tyrant. Even when it's a FMC, it comes in handy if and when it gets grounded.

Thanks All for your feedback. I am starting to edge toward two sets of Devourers I unfortunately don't have wings so I can't make a Flyrant (yet!). I have 4 Tyrant Guard and I don't know whether to give the Swarmlord 3 and the Hive Tyrant 1 or 2 each. I am considering taking Old Adversary to make him a bit better I always have 20 Devilgaunts in Spores to take out LR. Once again thanks! ~Deathmaster Snikch

Take 3 for the Swarmlord if you roll any powers not or Biomancy, or keep codex powers. If you do 4 rolls on Biomancy, give him just 1. This way when he casts Iron Arm they both benefit from the bonus as there is no majority. Also, because there is still no majority if you add a Prime, he'll use their T6+D3 too!

I'm a fairly new tyranid player, but i have had great results from using 2x TL devourers. Give us a much needed anti air as you can fire full ballistic against enemy fliers. Anti air is something we sorely lack, and it has been my answer to it so far. In my experience, if footslogging the HT, for the points, the swarmlord does it better than the walking HT. YMMV of course, so take that advice with a grain of salt.

Overwhelm the enemy with an unrelenting onslaught of the hive mind.

Due to flyers/fast skimmers that own the battlefield these days, you kind of have to take 2 flyrants with 2x devourers to be competitive.

If you build a list around him, you could also do Swarmlord as your sole HQ with 3x hive guard w/lashwhips probably. However, this is hard to do anymore unless you go for something like taking all telekinesis and hope for invisibility. In my opinion, this is better for swarmie than biomancy.

Those are the two options really...
