Subject: Which superheavy should I take?

So after one game of APoC I think i'm hooked on it, and some people at the club I go to are talking about doing more every few weeks. I'm thinking about buying a superheavy for it, but I'm at a cross roads on which one to get.
I'm liking the idea of a baneblade, as it is very long range and it has lots of long ranged guns, so I can blow some stuff up from afar while my ravenwing charge up to unleash devastation. I'm not to clear on the rest of the configurations, but the idea really does appeal to me. the last game I played I basically hid from killa kanz all day. >.>
Also, i'm starting to think about bringing something fluffy to the table with some forgeworld Fellblades. I know they are legion, but still they are space marine super heavies, and i love the look of them... plus, I can probably snatch a print out sheet for it somehow.

Personally I'm a fan of super-heavy walkers. Stompa's are a REALLY nice kit but it sounds like orks might not be up your alley. Also, that being said, I'm not a fan of the forgeworld imperial/chaos titans. They are very much not to scale and VERY expensive. My plan for apoc is to use a bunch of Dreamforge's new Leviathan model as a Knight household. Problem is...there's no official rules for the various Knight warmachines and you either have to make your own rules or have them 'counts-as'. Maybe the new Khorne skullcrusher? Either way, Warhounds are still pretty cool and can fit some pretty gnarly weaponry while also being very fast for their size.

Technically, SM's do not have Superheavy tanks anymore (the thunderhawk fills that role where required, Baneblades are IG tanks, Fellblades are long gone), so your best bet if you wanted to keep "40k" fluffy, I'd stick with an allied Imperial Guard Baneblade. The basic Baneblade works very well, a 10" AP2 blast plus a demolisher cannon on top makes for lots of hate.

Doesn't Yarrick have his own Baneblade? Take an allied force with Yarrick and a Baneblade.

Ah, found the variant I was talking about, the Stormsword, it may only have a range of 36', but the blast radius is literally so huge that it is incapable of missing it's original target.

You can use whatever you want in Apoc, your DA's could take a Heirophant or a Lord of Skulls or even be led by Horus from the same book as the Fellblade, Apoc doesn't have any rules on that, thus why I only noted the thematic aspect.

I was also really surprised by this, apparently the alliance rules went out the window. The book does say it’s up to the event planner.

If you want the optimized choice, you take whichever variant of the baneblade has a D weapon, because D weapons are broken.
If you want the fun choice, well now that's up to what you find coolest. The fellblade looks awesome, but is twice as expensive as a baneblade kit, even in its modern more expensive form, and baneblades/whatever the other variants are called are still awesome too.

This. If you're playing to win, take whatever gives you the most D-weapons per dollar. If you don't care about winning take whichever model you think will look better on your display shelf, since you will rarely get to use it.

Mate , I caught a Baneblade cheap on ebay, bought a conversion pack from Blood and skulls industries and magnetised the feth out of the weapons positions, so now I have a "Not Fellblade" with any weapon I please.

Shadowsword. Str.D is the name of the game and you need it in Apoc.

there was a shadowsword in my recent apoc game, and i'm really not impressed by it. at most it killed sammuel, but spent the rest of the game trying and failing to kill a cheese-eldar jetbike squad

Shadow sword seems to be a monster, I just got around to looking at the rules today and glanced over the sD weapons and its crazy with how much those weapons can do. If Im understanding right could someone explain to me how sD works with the rule "main gun" or whatever the shadow sword has? Like if I roll to pen or wound I roll on that chart right? and because it has the main gun rule I can reroll that??? The new rules are all so cool and Im trying to take them all in a once and Its confusing me! lol

Don't worry, D-weapons now ignore invulnerable saves (and they already ignored armor and cover) so that jetbike squad will be killed in one shot.

All titans, Shadowsword, Thunderhawk, Eldar Scorpion/Cobra/Lynx/Vampire Hunter, Tau Tigershark AX-1-0/Manta, Necron Pylon, Ork Kill Bursta. And some formations in the new Apocalypse book give them.

Unless it was changed, Shadow Swors only had a 5" blast whereas Baneblade have 10". If the target is a parking lot or horde, bigger is better.
