Sroc's tail looks a bit too prehensile, but overall he looks awesome.

The wolves are an improvement IMO. I do agree the banner bearer's head is slightly big for his body, but so is my dad's lol. Hopefully the tails are being reworked as well, as they were also too flexible and long for a wolf.

I'm surprised we didn't see a teaser for Metal Age. Any idea what its about? Heavy infantry?

I agree on the wolf heads. Better looking, but still awkwardly big.

Sroc is my new favourite thing.
For metal age, maybe they're going to start producing some of their line in metal - lower costs, maybe get some new customers.

Cheaper metals would certainly help bring in more players from those who found the resin to expensive (or fragile)

I can't believe I didn't think of that.

On KS, Rob said "As for "no more Darklands until the book is done"... you'll understand more when this project goes live."

Which might support this theory, maybe...

It would allow me to buy more of the infantry sculpts if they were slightly cheaper.

Interesting theory on metal infantry. Could they do metal casts w their existing setup? I'm not sure it would save anything over their big guys. I think I have a preemptive hernia imagining lugging Kull in metal around lol.

The resin human sized infantry is so amazingly frail, having metal would help quite a bit I'd think. It would be a very smart move on Mierce's part for sure. Even if the kickstarter was just to make new molds for metals of existing figures, perhaps they could also try to hire a full time sculptor just to do the kickstarter conversions that pile up!

Could it not be related to the warmachines they have hinted at before?

Would metal miniatures really be cheaper than resin miniatures?

Especially the big beasts?

I'm not so sure.

But what I am sure of is that I don't want any of the bigger sculpts in metal!

Frenzied Srók looks pretty amazing! I'm really tempted to add on (to Alpharius's pledge) towards it, but I'd have to do a hand swap for him to work as a Wrastler for Hordes, since they don't carry weapons. Any suggestions on a good model to pirate some "croc hands" from for such a conversion?

It still makes me a little nervous how many campaigns they have unfulfilled (New Kindreds ended 8 months ago, and hasn't started delivering yet of course, although I'm looking forward to Mórannach from Wave 7) and continue to add to the workload, so I would really love it if this upcoming one was to convert some infantry to metal. I think that could be a great idea since as noted some of them are very fiddly in resin, so this could actually be an even better medium (and possibly slightly cheaper). So it will be interesting to see!

On the man sized stuff it should be cheaper. Resin is really labor intensive and prone to flaws. Metal is more forgiving. At the very least less likely to break in the factory.

I really doubt they would switch the big beasts over to metal, as that would be much more expensive. Having man sized troops and 'key' parts of larger models, might help a bit though. Plus, if they miscast anything in metal, they just remelt it, and try it again.

OK then - man sized infantry in metal it is!

Well, unless it isn't, of course!

It would make sense, and the KS would be to fund the equipment for the transition.

On a related note, have people noticed that their chief mould maker is off for the next few weeks? Best wishes to him, but gonna slow things down.

Azrael, I read it as he had a procedure and was back now but taking it easy. Definitely all the best to him!

Ah yes, I slightly misread it. I've just had a similar procedure (it was a hernia op IIRC) and couldn't drive for a fortnight and wasn't supposed to lift heavy things for 6 weeks. It's a little over two months now, and I'm not sure I'd risk anything as intense as a resistance session at the gym for instance (it hurts when I sneeze!)

If they make some metal infantry for a bit cheaper... I'm in! I've been drooling over Darklands minis for so long but couldn't justify the price for a game that isn't done and that no one here has heard of.

Quite happy with Srok. Of course I'll be happier when they get the helmeted version done, but he's quite impressive.

Almost able to stand up to the Dyndraig leader too. That guy is massive as well!

I still hope and wish that if they do another Bane Beasts KS, they consider doing a hand to hand fighting Krokodar. Srok looks like a good base to start with!
Give him some chains wrapped around his fists, armored knuckles, bladed gauntlets or something... bam! Instant wrassler.

For Marasai- have you considered emailing them and letting them know you'd like to change your order?
If you're really unhappy with the wolf sculpt, I'm sure they'd let you get the credit back and pick something else from their store if that's what you'd like.

I am intrigued by this idea of metal infantry. If we aren't worrying about new sculptsthat would probably help things out on their end.

I would certainly prefer metal Savrar to the delicate paper thin ones I have currently.

Well I certainly like what I'm seeing, but I know I'm still going to end up knocking those horns off repeatedly.

Time to break out the pins.

Oh, just spotted this:

Don't worry... nothing above 60mm will be in metal!

I agree... This is great news. Unfortunately, I only collect resin goodies, so no good news for me, but I think it will aid Mierce in getting a bigger crowd. And these miniatures really deserves a bigger crowd!

Thats interesting but will it offer much of a saving, I'm not worried if I have resin or metal, although resin is easier to work with.

I wonder if this kickstarter will be for new models or exisiting into metal. I also wonder if this will help keep the price down for mounted infantry.

I'm actually surprised that at least some of the 60mm base stuff is getting metal options, as there are plenty of really bulky things in that selection

But I'm sure I can justify some cheaper troops for the stuff I;ve not got yet, or where I've got monstrous infantry & big creatures but no troops

Hi,
Tim (mouldmaker) here.

Yes, I had a double hernia op recently (small umbilical and a large-ish inguinal hernia).

The procedure was set for Aug/Sept but I got 5 days notice that the op would be in June! I was happy though as I was in a fair amount of pain/discomfort at times (I've had the small one for 12 years and the large one for 2 so I was ready!) and my wife had booked a trip to Paris for our anniversary in Aug so that had been looking doubtful if the op was around that time.

Anyway, the procedure went well (though all sorts of un-imaginables changed colour, swelled up and became very painful for a while!) and I'm now back at work. I had two weeks off to recover from the surgery (it hurts when I sneeze too, Azrael and hayfever doesn't help lol!) and I need to take it easy for a few weeks so I'm not a full speed yet but getting there - and I'm getting the lads to do the heavy lifting whilst I concentrate on the slicing!

Anyways there you go - there's been a delay which I apologise for (these are the first non-vacation days off I've had working for Mierce...ever!) but I'll be caning the overtime once I'm fully healed and I'll catch up best I can. I did try to come back early, but boy was that a mistake!

In the meantime hmmm shiny metal! I do recall planning something metal before I went away......all that morphine I was on for a while though...I forget! :0P

Nah, the Metal Age KS is indeed to give people the option of our luvverly infantry (inc some characters) minis in metal. It will allow us to bring the entry level cost down as well. Starter sets for kindreds with a good deal for all, that sort of thing.
And of course we will still cast our minis in resin for those that prefer it! But the aim of this KS is to get those people that have been a little hesitant because of the higher cost of resin to dip their toes in. And even resin junkies probably don't own as many Darklands infantry as they'd like........ Some monstrous infantry too will be produced in metal (hopefully!) - though there comes a point where resin makes more sense with those guys - Sronax for example, are probably a no go in metal!

We'll be outsourcing the metal casting so me and the resin casters can crack on with the other stuff. It won't slow us down on current wave fulfillment either so kills two (well a few really!) birds with one stone.

Anyways bed awaits! I don't come on forums much (I was reading the AoS rumours!) so see you on the KS page!

Tim

P.S I wanted to call it Metallica or Heavy Metal but got overuled. Bah! :0P
