Last time I was at my FLGS, I priced out Telion I think it was like $18 including tax. I have been looking online for a good deal, and it is like $25 used. Have prices gone way up or something? Can I buy telion anywhere for a good price that you guys know of?

he's $16, new, on the GW website, but he's Finecast...
if you are after a metal version, people may be selling him for more...

Yeah, I was wondering why the price fluctuated from what I have seen. That makes sense, thank you.

Also, if you put "OOP" in the item description on eBay, people will pay out the nose for it without doing their research. When I was building my Valhallans about a year ago, I wanted a Chenkov model. He was ~$12 from GW, and I saw them going for $40+ (with multiple bids and time to spare!) on eBay. They weren't even new in blister.

I'd love to know why this is, its an odd quirk with eBay in general and not just the Wargaming section. I've seen second-hand computer parts go for +20% new retail for example. The only explanations I've heard that make any kind of sense are:

Kids without debit/credit cards but with Paypal

Money laundering

Makes trying to get a bargain sometimes a total headache.

The worst example I've come across of inflating a price because the model is metal and OOP has got to be this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tau-Empire-Commander-Shadowsun-BNIB-New-Sealed-OOP-Warhammer-40k-Metal-Plastic/390611567426?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D286%26meid%3D9156027585716589495%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D1048%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D390591288230%26]

Shadowsun for only £100 comapred GW's price of £23.50! That's a mark-up of over 400%.

It's not just eBay...! It's any market you could come to think of. It relies on two aspects of human nature - one, that there will always be people stupid and/or gullible enough to fall for inaccurate descriptions, or terms that mean nothing in terms of value. Two, as long as those people exist, there will always be people shrewd and/or unscrupulous enough to take advantage of them.

Some common terms to consider that aren't exactly highly regulated or well-defined, and as such, mean sweet bugger-all:

"Quality"
"Premium"
"Exclusive"
"Near mint condition"
"Careful owner(s)"
And a local favourite... "Pro-painted"

Ebay is like a dual edge blade , one can find great deals there if we know how to look , but since (most) people are not that smart they end inflating the price of the products , I have brought my metal Telion model for like 3GBP plus postage so around 5GBP , but i have seen it been sold around 15 GBP, its just insane!

It's because people don't know how to do their research, or in other words, Google what they're about to spend money on!

Yeah I've seen this guy. He sells the old washes at £10 a pot and is selling the new glazes at around double what they are to buy RRP and claims he is saving you money. Whats really disheartening is that I clicked to see that 6 unfortunate people had already bought them. He also has a metal Sanguinour going for £40.
