Hi there, been a while,

tomorrow i have a 1k Crons vs SW game. I play Crons.

I was thinking of taking 2 warrior squads of 10. One takes a Ghost Ark.
A squad of 10 tesla immortals
An Annihalation barge.
An Overlord with Semp weave and a ress orb.

Now i do have some points left then.

I was thinking of a Spyder with gloom prison since i expect his rune priest to lead his army. And it would also be nice to have something to repair the ark.
I was also thinking of taking a royal court lord with ress orb to accompany a squad of warriors.

Any tips on what to take extra or maybe an entire other idea? I have plenty of models..

Last time i saw this guy i saw he had this...

rune priest
Captain.
couple of those lone wolfs? sorta captain like inftry that can split off and walk alone
2 Rhino's
a predator
about 30 infantry marines
some scouts
10 long fangs
drop pod
a squad of big wolves..

The terrain wont have much elevation. There will be 2 buildings. (not that high) some craters and statues...

Any ideas will be welcome!

Other than the AB, you don't have anything semi-reliable to pop his rhinos and predator.

What additional models other than a spider and a normal lord do you have access to?

Ok. Well from the list of possible units your friend has, you need a better way than just the barge to address the rhinos and predator.

One option is to run Crypteks (probably destructions...maybe storms). This will give you a nice 36" S9 shot. Additionally, running a Stalker with a HGC would also provide a similar range and strength while enabling all other weapons to be twin linked on the target. This would be useful for when you need to make those shots against infantry count.

In addition, Wraiths will be very useful to address the threats of long fangs and the wolves. Just make sure you have whip coils on a few of them.

That's a few options to think about.

Good Tidbit to remember:

If a overlord is in a CCB its immune to jaws, as per jaws having no effect on vehicles. easy way to make sure you don't lose your warlord and firstblood to a Drop podding jawsmachine.

unless he puts a wolf guard with melta bombs/PF or runs a PF in his grey hunters he can't hurt your stalker in CC

Monolith = str 8 ap 3 pie plate. I've always found that good at taking out chunks of marines

Well he won't be taking all of that cause I make it to be roughly 1400-1600pts total. You're in luck as I play two armies - SW & Crons.

As it's only 1000 pts I wouldn't suggest a Monolith, but a Doomsday Ark would be good, and/or a unit of Heavy Destroyers * 3. Stalkers would also be ok. Scarabs will eat his Rhino's in no time, and provide a good tarpit for a GH squad once they're done eating :p. You can never go wrong with a bog standard 20 * blob squad with res orb - just don't get charged as majority of the time GH's will sweep you. Your wraiths are also a good option to consider.

I'd go 20 blob squad with res orb, 10 man squad, overlord and 2 crypteks, and then deck out the rest of your points with some of the options above.

Your idea about another res orb lord is a good one, and a spyder (better to have 2) wouldn't be bad, especially behind a nice big bunch of scarabs.

Basically you need to sit back and shoot him as he will eat you in assault - this means lots of high strength shooting, and making sure you can effectively get off massed gauss fire as he approaches. If you do want to try and nullify him in assault somewhat I'd go wraiths, but I find it's better to just shoot them!

Back in the day, we were epic Space Vikings with horns, and beer, and stupid mockney accents, and we didn't have any truck with this flying around like a pansy shizzle. We certainly didn't surround ourselves with mangy animals.

Now we're basically the Bestiality Chapter.

We also now ride chariots and employ daemonic dreadnoughts...also, we fly and teleport with abandon. With wolves.

I'll likely get grief for this, but 5 LG and orb lord is going to draw most heavy fire on the table, leaving your blobs free to shoot and claim objectives. A blob would also be boosted by having a ghost ark around for repairs

I'm an SW player and can tell you what I hate facing in the Necron list:

First off your lord with Mind Shackle Scarabs. Hes unbelievably scary to face in combat, so always give him that. Resurrection Orbs are also extremely useful.

Annihilation barges are also very tough to take down and put out a lot of firepower. 2 is better than 1.

Flyers, we have no anti flyer capability, so get some on the table and take advantage of it (I cant believe I'm typing this). Nightscythes with warriors in for grabbing objectives are amazing against SW.

Thats pretty much it really, our shooting has little effect against you, so we need to get into combat as quick as possible, so play avoidance army and shoot with your flyers and barges until there is nothing left.

Its better to burn out than to fade away

In a 1000pt game, I find that things like Doomsday arks and Stalkers chew up too many points.

Spyders and scarabs are, however, gold.

As a suggestion :

5 scarabs
5 scarabs
2 Spyders
Anni Barge
Ghost Ark
10 warriors x 2
10 immortals tesla
overlord WS, MSS, Weave

I haven't done points, but it should be around 1000, trim immortals/warriors to suit.

Scarabs in 2 x 5 to give you more flexibility, spyders give MC goodness (maybe a Claw and Gloom Prism), GA for repair/mobile cover.

Small points game?

Cheap efficient stuff like annihilation barges and nightscythes are awesome.

I like to run Anakyr in a CCB and a squad of immortals too.

So Anakyr
1 Lord royal court with Weave, MSS, and Warscythe as a squad leader for the immortals
10 Immortals w/ tesla and pyrrhian eternals in a Nightscythe
9 necron Warriors as a objective holder
2 Annihilation barges
and a mob of Scarabs to taste (6 or so).

Should handle most things space wolves can send at you well enough.
