I don't know if any of you were fans of the 40k PC game Chaos Gate back in the 90's, but it is one of the most memorable and fun video games I ever had the joy of playing. It was bugged to all heck but it was just the best. And the one liners! Oh man!

There is a website called Gog (good old games) .com and they take requests in updating and patching games to run on new computers. I don't know if they can bring it back or not, but they will try if the Chaos Gate request forum gets enough attention. Here is the link

If anyone knows of another way to get ahold of this game let me know.

Chaos Gate was the bomb! Sadly there was a bug, making it unplayable on newer computers :(

I would love to give it another go

The rights are almost certainly in limbo, so don't hold your breath...

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

It is not necessary.

and is apparently not likely to happen due to licensing issues.

Well I got my old copy to run on windows 7 and fixed the cultist bug tonight.

You need to run everything as windows xp pack 3 with admin right. (Setup file and game exe file)

Secondly you need to edit the weapon database file found under the data folder.
Some guides on the Internet tell you to just remove capitalized letters from the las pistol entry. That didn't work for me.
Instead I copy the file entry name from plasma pistol entry within the file and presto no cultist bug.

Please excuse my types...I'm drunk atm

Chaos Gate on the tablets would be great come to think of it

They did a very similar game on the Nintendo DS, which is quite entertaining (until you hit the Chaos terminators which are impossible to kill).

Given the success of the slicked up and re-released XCOM you would think there was a reasonable market out there for a re-worked Chaos Gate.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Many of same mechanisms could be used for a chaos gate remake

I'd love a bit more bigger variant though, one where you start with one squad, and then are able to use multiples, able to use like squads in tandem to fight.

Also, allow for other armies! I'd love to use some tau/chaos/eldar squads.

I don't know much about running old games on newer PCs (thankfully i've never had a problem getting Master of Orion 2 to work on new PCs!), but you may want to google Windows Compatibility Mode. I've heard people using that setting to get older programs to work.

This! I somehow got my old copy of Ultima Savage Empire and the other one set on Mars to run on Vista, a bit clunky but it works. And yes, they should remake the game. it would be glorius!

I got it to work as I posted while intoxicated above ^^
Sometimes your save file corrupts though, so be sure to make several.
Once you get past the cultist bug it's a great game.
I just need to stop running. No wonder I couldn't hit anything

Well...there is a new space hulk video game coming out.

It's a 1:1 translation of the board game to a video game, and I think that's perfect, even if it doesn't exactly mean something new. I am really excited for the upcoming Armageddon game from Slitherine; seems like a spiritual successor to Final Liberation.

I believe the game you're talking about is 40k Squad Command. (I beat the game on Sony PSP, and it got crazy hard on the upper levels.) Regardless, it is one of my favorite games on the PSP to play.

Proudly howling at 40k games since 1996.
