Hi, the other day I played my very first game of 40k and it was a gong show.

I play crons and I was versing nids. I got devesteted by 5 swarmlords with guard in a 750 point battle, it seemed completely unfair.
I had 40 warriors, a lord and 11 immortals, but somehow this overpowered swarmlord thingy killed everyone by turn 4, I forgot
to mention he had 2 trygon primes too. Any advice on how I could kill this army?

He he, that swarmlord deathstar devastated you, whoever you played against was a complete liar, he tricked you, each swarmlord is 280 points, you must have at least one troop choice. he had like 1600 points to your 750. btw one does simply kill the swarmlord with guard

I'd suggest buying a rulebook first dude!!

Swarmlords are 280 points each and you can only take 1 as its a named character.

...5 swarmlords?

in a 750 point game?

How...what...why?

I can't...

What?

I think your friend just cheated you. Each swarmlord costs like one marine short of 300 points, and you can only have one due to his status as a special character, and even if he wasn't even in a double FOC game you can only have four HQs.

To kill an almost certainly Iron arm'd swarmlord your best hope is in mind shackle scarab'd Necron lords challenging him with a warscythe to get him to hit himself or at the very least waste a turn wasting the Necron lord (although kitted out the Necron Lord has a small chance of surviving a second round) and whacking him while he's distracted.

If you want to kill a Swarmlord without risking one of your court members, well a D&D Team is the single best character assassination tool in the game, and they give no feths if the swarmlord is T6 or T9.

Single Swarmlord plus Guard = 240 points.
2x Trygon Primes = 480 pts.

Leaving 30 points for troops. Literally not possible and doesn't even address the "5 Swarmlords with guard" thing that I have no idea what you're referring to.

A Swarmlord can have up to 3 guard, but that unit costs 400 points minimum.

Ask your friend to show you his nid codex and point out that there is no way he can have even one swarmlord with two trygon primes and have enough points for his minimum troops, much less five with guards.

So that's 2000 points, plus the 480 for the Trygons, and that's without troops.

You two were not playing the same game. And his was an illegal list in many ways (can't have more than 1 swarmlord, can't take 5 HQs)...

Troolololol?

Anyway, if this is a serious thread, standard protocol is to take your BRB and bash your friend with the book opened to the force organization chart repeatedly.

He's got the name of the unit wrong, obviously.

But D-Lords with scarabs and weave are your friend.

Even with Tyrants he can only have Four in a double FOC game.

And I'd prefer the phase shifter over the weave, and hence a walklord to challenge out a Tyrant. For one thing a 3++ is not ignored by a TMC like the 2+ is.

Infiltrating Broodlord

Any chance you mean 5x Broodlords with a genestealer bodyguard and two Tyranid Primes? Five cheap Broodlord-lead Genestealer units (4x Stealers + Broodlord) and two Primes with basic upgrades (either Rending claws or Deathspitters) is 750 points on the dot and perfectly legal to field.

Assuming it is the Genestealers, the easiest (albeit meanest) solution is to put some or all of your infantry in Night Scythes and have fun zipping around the field while the Tyranid stands around helpless to do anything about them. Broodlords can't use witchfire psychic powers and the biomancy buffs are useless if they can't assault you. The Broodlords themselves are also vulnerable to Mindshackle Scarabs as is any other close combat beatstick model. The Overlord shouldn't have too much trouble beating one up in a challenge so long as the Broodlord don't get Iron Arm for the added toughness and strength.
