Why would the devourer of worlds ally with anything?

Its a house rule so... why not?

If it makes you happy and you have fun games useing it then by all means continue to do so.

Weirder combos are already part of the matrix, so why not?

For a house rule like this, I like to refer to the old Apocalypse allies matrix. Anything Tyranid fell under "better have a really good story".

This is why I don't like the allies rule. Too many people not playing to strengths, just plugging weaknesses with GW's illogical fixes.

Even the Oldcrons wanted to set up a soul farm rather than exterminate life altogether.

Same goal, different style of execution.

Again, no.

Once more down to the beach, dear friends, once more,
To drown our sorrows with our English beer!
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility;
But when the blast of alcohol blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood.

This is the only alliance I would allow for Tyranids. Now where is my Patriarch and his limousine?

Orks, Tau, and Eldar are all susceptible to Genestealer infection.

Nids actively avoid necrons, it says so in the codex, so no, they can't ally.

This.

The necrons loathe the nids above everything else.

Nids avoid necron worlds because there's no biomass to consume. I support the houserule as I have nids and necrons.

Necrons could have a problem with a near by Orc planet and when the nids attack they help out ?

the big problem is communication, there's no real way they could set up an alliance. it'd accept the house rule as a special scenario, allowing nids to ally with most things but saying instinctive behavior applies to the allies as well (IE the gaunts have been let off the leash), so you can ally but woe betide you if the enemy kills your synapse...
