Ive been painting with the new citadel shades, and i've comeacross a problem that i'm sure most on here have experienced, it's a cloudy white stain on an otherwise well painted model. I didn't have this problem with the old GW washes. re- applying doesn't seem to make it much better. any advice? my old gw washes are already running out/ drying up.

I have this problem with the old GW washes. There are a few theories out there. One is that you have to shake the wash for a half an hour before using it because that white cloud is a particulate in the wash to make the wash work properly, and it has separated from the rest of the wash. Another one I remember is that it may be your water and to use distilled water or let the water you are using sit around for a few days before using it with the washes. It could be you got a bad pot of wash. There are other theories, but those are my favorites.

It's matting agent, I think. I found you can clear it by applying a little gloss varnish over it. Flat coat at the end and it's gone.

Seems to get worse with older pots. Crap behaviour for a paint. I've started using Vallejo washes and mixing shade coats with glaze medium instead.

Yeah, its the matting agent that separates from the rest of the wash. I hadn't heard about the gloss/flat coats as a fix. Reminds me of the fix for matte spray accidents. Good idea.

Shake it a lot. That seems to fix any problems with the GW paints.
