My friend's agreed to play an only war campaign only if they can be orks. Here lies the predicament, I only have the only war books. My only idea I have is use the regiment system like usual but use the create your own template to make war bands instead of regiments. Will this work? I also need advise and suggestions to fully convert to an ork campaign using the only war system.

Out of all of FFG's 40k RPGs, Only War is probably the easiest to convert - or at least this is how I feel when looking at the rules. "Regiments = Warbands" is an excellent approach, and it shouldn't be too difficult to come up with the appropriate classes (Boy, PainBoy, Nob, ..) either.

For added lulz, make comrades = gretchin, and have them be mosty useful, but also include a chance for them to be hilariously counterproductive. You probably wouldn't actually need a rule for that but could simply improvise as GM, but for your players it might feel less arbitrary that way. Stuff like running off to retrieve a thrown (and armed!) grenade etc ...

And get Enemies of the Imperium. It has a lot more for the Orks, and will give you rules for various Clans and whatnot that your players can adapt to their own "warband".

I Have the Only War Enemies of The Imperium on the way, been waiting for a week for it to come in but that's what I get for picking standard shipping...

Edit/ P.S : As you may have figured out I am a rookie GM in fact only played D&D twice as a PC, so rookie all around with pen and paper RPGs, only half way through the corebook, need to also read the Final Testament book more, only book I am missing now that isn't in the mail is Hammer of The Emperor. Even got the GM kit to further help me fully grasp the system

Sounds like you're doing your homework. It shouldn't be difficult to do. Just use a healthy amount of flavor text and make sure all the commanding officers speak in ork and constantly attempt to "Boost morale" with their powerklaws.

My Enemies of the Imperium is here finally. Classes I have so far are: Nob, Painboy, Mechboy, Weird boy, stormboy and boy. The companions are gretchin, snotling or squigs, sound good so far? Well the class upgrades are what i am still thinking on.

Heh, this sounds awesome. Not going to lie, to me at least about 75% of being a GM is rules knowledge/system mastery. Once you know the system well enough that you're not afraid to tear it apart and make it work for you is when you can start really having fun.

As for story, I generally just have a general plot for an awesome story arc I want to put the players though, then break it up into natural "chapters" (for instance, fixing a crashed spaceship. Each chapter would be getting one system working, involving both finding materials and experts who actually know how to work the thing).

I tend to view each chapter as a series of "set piece encounters" i.e. encounters (whether social or combat, usually combat since I love me some hack and slash) that I work really hard on and mess with until they get to be just right.

Then, once I have a chapter and 3-4 set pieces I throw the adventure hook out and pretty much improvise from there. As long as the players are relatively obliging and you know the rules well enough to wing anything crazy they might want to do (have a few "generic encounters" ready to go. You can even run the same one multiple times across different sessions as long as you "reskin" the monsters) you're golden.

EDIT: If you run Gorkamorka as the campaign setting and do session reports for Dakka I will...probably do nothing except enjoy the reports and offer honest advise, but some over-dramatic piece of excitement would be more interesting, so...personally offer to have your children (and I'm a guy).
