Hi started converting a Dryad spider rider( bought from ebay ) and converting to spider shooting web, any suggestions on how to create convincing web

Heres what stage at present , have removed rider, cut spider in half, joined and then filled . Added texture to blank underside with filler and used green stuff to create missing part of back legs. created a new web spinner (which has .5mm magnet). Reshaped legs to more menacing pose. Drilled and fitted pin to hold in position. Waiting for Green stuff to go off before next step.

So thought on how I could make some webs.

Cheers. happy modeling

You could, make the web on a flat piece of waxpaper and then shape the web by bending the paper, prop it up and let it dry. Then you can attach it to the model perhaps. Great pose though.

tried some paper versions tonight would be find but think too flimsy so tried a couple of different versions I'm vearing to the idea of the shooting streams of webbing. ( one on the right )

its simple and think it could work. using strips of plastic with silicon coating to give texture. Thought anyone.

Looks pretty decent but kinda thick for me personally, Spider webbing is thin. Still looks pretty sweet though how would you paint it up ?

Agree with you on the thickness, but thinking it has to stand up to being handled. With painting feel bone white with silver highlight dry brushed.

That's true, hadn't thought about that really. The colours sound good, the silver should certainly give it that sparkly web look.

moved along another stage, change the pose of second spider on on the right so stands higher and now base painted spiders have to do some detail work on their eyes and alike. but getting there. Think the webbing is nice in position. Can remove it with its magnet attachment.

Addition to spiders. I've got the 4 spiders that I was after and decide that the others need some love too. Think that might even try and sell them on ebay if they come out ok.

I've decided that they needed a bit of spicing up so added one carring some baggage under a tatted flag. One with a drum on his back. A skeleton added with green stuff manacles, one with a rope and another with custom pincers which are half way through.

Was going to do just a canvas sheet but think the idea of a torn flag could work.

Went with a skeleton so as to show how deadly they are, he could have been on there a long time. carved out his rib cage to make not so more detail.

wondering what to do with the custom pincers/legs/tarsus. Letting the first green go off before doing the next part.

Sometimes things just seem to work out like you planned. The banner on the spider come out a treat. Well thats what I was thinking.

Can see some dwarves turning in there grave to the loss of that flag.

Well finished all the spiders and happy with the look. Will throw them on ebay see if they will sell.

Think I would prefer to buy unmade next time but shall see.
