Eyo, I'm on a search for find figures for a table top game I've been working on for some time now.

It's based on Westwood Studio's '95 Command and Conquer PC game.

I spent months learning how to carve, model, mold, cast, paint, and so on. It's paid off to my satisfaction for half of the project.

While, I'm it's nothing to make most of you look twice, they are to my satisfaction give the effort I put in.
Anyways, I'm looking to have the second half of the project premade. The units and vehicles.
I want to find a place selling box sets of ready to paint modern era military infantry, M1A1, M113 APCs, MLRS, and so on.

Ideas, tips, good places to look?

N scale would be best, but something between N and Z would be livable.

Those buildings look awesome. Really glad you went for the first red alert, definitely the cream of the C&C crop.

How would these scale?

There's a smaller range as well here. I've ordered from here a few times, really into Full Thrust, I can recommend them.

Also dark realm miniatures might do some stuff you can use.

At 15mm, these are going to be notably larger than N (10-11mm) or Z (7mm)

SovietDooM wrote:N scale would be best, but something between N and Z would be livable.

Even though it's smaller than you'd like, if you can go down to 6mm scale, there is a ton of modern and sci-fi armor, infantry and even terrain available quite reasonably. A search for 6mm modern or sci-fi will reveal many options.

N (1/144-1/160)is a bit of a boutique scale. The cheapest stuff is Mechwarrior clix figs which are still available cheaply online. It's what I rebase and use for mass battle wargaming.
The other makers in that scale are Hawk Wargames (Dropship commander) and Reaper (CAV). Reaper is middle of the pack as far as price, Hawk is a great product, but definitely a bit more expensive. Two very good companies with a very different aesthetic.

You can also look for model kits in 1/144 or N scale, there are some, mostly for modern aircraft, but also some vehicles and infantry.

Best of luck with the project.

I would certainly suggest you look at the ranges available for 6mm, 1/285 gaming. There are extensive ranges to cover all your potential needs for at least the conventional forces, you may need to scratch build the more "exotic".

Also just wanted to say how mauch I like what you have scratch built so far

Those buildings are so cool!!! Please keep us posted on this, I am intrigued

I don't have suggestions on places to get small tanks, but there are a lot I believe... I just don't play anything in that scale.

Dropzone Commander is 10mm scale, and inspired by games like Command & Conquer / Red Alert.

I never much liked Red Alert, I was addicted to the original C&C '95... which is why I'm so interested in what you're doing

I think you folks are right, I don't have thing in 6mm to compare to the buildings but from what I looked through on the web, it should match up fair enough.

I'm not seeing a great variety in vehicles though, yet I only just started looking.

There's a few ebay stores selling packs like this;
http://www.ghqmodels.com/store/n15..html

Does anyone know if these GHQ's items are pewter or plastic? And, will a box set like that come unpainted?

I flipped through GHQ's catalog and only found 3 vehicles I need, M1A1, Humvee, M113

I still need loads of infantry, grenadiers, rocket troopers, Snipers, Engineers, MLRS, DPVs and Bradleys.

I made a few attempts at the "exotic" vehicles once by stamping parts from micro machines into clay, making plastic parts then forming them together. Anyone have thoughts on other ways to make units like the flame tank, stealth tank, or harvester?

The project has been on going since 2011, and gets attention when I have time to spare from work. All those pieces still need final touches, a bit more paint, small parts like fans/spikes, and a base piece. I had the full story on the CnC forums until the cleared it all out and overhauled their site. I'll be sure and outline the project here as well as the new CnC thread as time progresses.

Pretty much everything you buy in 6mm is going to be metal and unpainted. GHQ is for sure. Did you see the other GHQ packs here:
http://www.ghqmodels.com/store/modern-micro-armour-united-states.html

There may be some companies doing 6mm resin, but not many. 6mm uses so little metal that there isn't a huge cost savings in resin. A google search for "6mm sci-fi" will return alot of results. I did that search and there were at least 7 different companies on the first page of results.

Good hunting.

Eilif, those are perfect! I flipped through there site but only seemed to turn up new releases of tank platoons. But I'm seeing a lot of what I need from you link. This is great, I'll be sure and come back with lots of pics when I've made some progress. Thank you.

Wizkids Mechwarrior is about 10mm scale and the troops and vehicles are cheap. I removed the clix base off my vehicles and troops, they look cool. Have you seen Monsterapocalypse? I think they are between 2-6mm scale.

Keep up the fight!

Eilif is a great source for asking about this kind of thing, for future reference

Most folks on Dakka tend to do mostly 28mm gaming, so when you find folks dedicated to smaller scales it is good to take note

Picked up a 5 pack of M1A1s to see if I really like the smaller scale. Really like that I was able to find a piece for all the units and it doubles the playing field of a scenic model I made some time ago.

I collect those, the issue there is they are futuristic / fantasy additionally I don't think I could bring myself to breaking them down.

Never heard of Monsterapocalyps, looks like the table top version of "Rampage"

As I would appear, I tracked down an Ebay sell and looked through their site, Nobleknight, and they have about 70% of what I needed. The others were the more exotic vehicles.

Thanks RiRides,
I do try to stay abreast of obscure miniature developments...

SoveitDoom,
Glad to see they worked out for you. Really adds a sense of realism to see little vehicles beside your buildings.

No advice to add since Eilif covered your question pretty well. I instead just wanted to say the project looks great! Really captures the two sides of that classic RTS game.

Now you just need a few double barrel tanks to represent the Mammoths (I think that's what they were called?).

I'm going to be using the Hammerhead tank destroyer variant.

http://www.plasmablastgames.com/shop6mmProgenitor.html

It will need rocket packs, but looks pretty close to the CnC design.

Dropzone Commander looks like something I'll have to look into if I finish the project and move on to the Tiberian sun designs.

In 10mm, Mechwarrior troops cost even .40 cents.

Well my new vehicle supplier finally got restocked.
I'm waiting on one more bulk order for the special units, but medium, light tanks, Humvees, buggies, arty, MLRS, apcs, and harvesters are in and being painted.

Looking Good! You're really moving along on this project.

It's giving me nostalgic feelings for all the military micro machines I had as a kid.

How are you doing your camo? I am planning to get some of the smaller scale camo patterns here to airbrush on some similar schemes for Dropzone Commander models:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/550600.page

But I'm guessing you did these by hand? They look good!

Indeed, it's taken many hours, days, weeks, cough* years.
I think my enjoyment of micromachines when I was a boy is the main reason this has become such a passion for me now.

Thanks, I'm doing this to have my own CnC style table top game. I've run through a few ideas on how to track stats and need to run a few controlled games to iron out exactly how the system is going to work. It will be something similar to Wizkids MechWarrior. I want something more complex then a quick game of risk but easier to pick up then Warhammer. Each unit and building will have own base piece with health indicator and stats for range, damage, movement. The buildings will perform a mix of function and stat bonus. Something such as comm center unlock new tech while granting a light of sight bonus.

All the camo is done by hand using what I believe is a 3/0 liner. I did my best to ensure smooth edges and a mix of shapes along with a particle distribution.
