I was flipping through my GK codex the other day and had a thought. What if I was to take Inquisitor Coteaz (who makes inquisitorial warbands troop choices and lets me take as many warbands as I like.) and fill up 3-5 of my troop choices with 5-6 inquisitorial psykers. For only 50-60 points I can have a small, mobile S9 AP1 large blast that can claim objectives. To make up for the small number of actual grey knights, you could simply take a squad of 10 and split them with combat squads. with this tactic, the enemy would have a hard time being able to shoot down 3-5 50 point battle cannons while having the fire being drawn off the approaching gks. For the price you could field 5 s8 ap1 large blasts for the cost of 1 land raider, and they can claim objectives. Does anyone think this could work?

Well.... They die so easy. But they also put out an obscene amount of fire power. I would try and play a few games with it, and check outhit it does.

I've tried them in the past embarked in Chimera, for added protection. Worked quite well in 5th; however, in 6th perils will wipe them out so fast you feel stupid for taking them.

Perils are worse in 6th? Huh?

I've seen plenty of players try this out in early 6th and it just doesn't work. At Ld8 and BS3 they just don't hit that often, and a single Perils result wipes out the whole squad. There are better things to spend your points on.

If your going to do it though, shove a single acolyte in just in case you do perils the squad away to avoid giving up the kill.

edit also your title reminds me of

Opan Grey knight style.

To confirm the general consensus. I just played a 1500 pt game using this tactic. I took 5 squads of 6 psykers. Turn 1 one died to perils of the warp. 2 of them failed to hit anything and the other two were saved by those mother&$^#*ing holofield wave serpents. In the enemy turn he proceeded to wipe out 2 of the units and weakening a third. By this point i had 2 remaining psykers to shoot with at no more than S6 AP3. They took out 1/2 a squad of rangers before dying horribly. The few remaining grey knights sat with their thumbs up their asses as 4 wave serpents melted their faces. epic failure, there you have it.

6 Squads of 6 and Coteaz are only 460pts. What was the rest of your 1040pts doing?

Not saying Psykers are amazing but not sure the above really adds anything as it doesn't sound like it was a well played game.

Yeah, I'd like to know what the list was besides the psykers. That matters, just a tad.
