Hey there,

So I've been trying to include my friend's army lists into my own models, basically various dead or dying versions of their army on my own bases. The idea for this is for Sammael to be swooping past and decapitating my friend's Plague Marine. The only thing I had to mimic the "flying" effect for the marine was flying base stands, they're not entirely transparent though so i'm not sure how it looks. Let me know what you think (Sammael's not fully painted yet, apologies!)

I like the idea.
But the "pose" of your dying marine looks somewhat off.
He and his head should fly off depending on the direction of the slash. And the more realistic scenario for me is a forward slash useing the momentum of the hoverbike. But then the body should be draged along the sword and not so much in front of it. Sword and body should roughly be on the same position - or the sword even past the body to show the speed of sammaels attack
Also i'd lean the head more forward and not parallel with the gound for a more dynamic effect.

If he has made a backward slash the body and head are flying in the wrong direction and Sammael would have to cleave through the backpack as well.

And i'm not the biggest fan of the transparent rod. The difference between rod size and helmet is to small and the rod is just too easy to spot. What you could try is add a wire. I think it is not as dominant. And you could get creative with it and connect the head to the body with a wire and hide it inside of blood splatters sculpted around the wire.

Also you could pin the csm to the base through his heel and remove the rod there as well.

This means additional work but as he is one of your HQ models the time should be invested i think.
