I just found a game on steam called war for the overworld that looks spookily like dungeon keeper. It's an active beta game atm so not yet finished but I have to say I'm excited.
I'll buy it and have a game on the weekend

AFAIK It's by the people who made the first two.
It's also pretty damn similar so it's a good 'recreation'

Uhm...I know it's beta...and I am not a graphics whore...but those textures look awfully 2000'ish.

I hope it is more like the 1st than the 2nd in terms of gameplay. And I am not so fussed about older looking graphics if the game itself is good.

Fair enough, not going to pay for the beta though, I see no point in playing an unfinished dungeon keeper.

I think it's discounted while it's still in beta vs release price. I picked it up, but it needs a lot more polish so I'm gonna give it time. Here's a link to the kickstarter page if anyone wants the info on it.

War for the Overworld has the blessings of Dungeon Keepers maker Peter Molixnew (probably botched his name) but not the full rights so we don't get the bile demon, mistress, ect. But other than no reacquiring creatures (imps don't count) it's pretty much DK3

edit: Might have to break out DK1 (and maybe2) to polish my skills up for when this comes out
