That depends. Sone units aren't overpowered by themselves, but when combined with some other rule become simply ridiculous. It also depends on what army it is facing.

Would you like some wine with your 3++ helturkey cheese?

Well...

I've only played a few games of 6th. Maybe 15 or so at this point.

So, currently, 2 manticores. And for a short while Nurgle MC list until I began Eldar.

Now my wave serpents are the broken units in my group.

In the past?

5th edition Necron scarabs.

4th edition Eldar harlequins.

3rd edition Iron Warriors with 4 heavy support choices. (As far as memory serves. It's been a while)

Tzeentch screamers with forwarning, and the grimoire, for a 2++ re rollable invulerable save, with fateweaver in the army, so the grimoire works 8 out of 9 times.

Anything in the daemon dex with forewarning and grimoire for a 2++ save is silly. DoT rerolling the 1s makes it worse.

Hum... most rediculous model I have fought against is probably Doom of Malantai. In a world before interceptor existed I have no clue how that monstrosity would ever be called "sane".

That one model is the reason I take rail rifles on my broadsides!

Also, honestly, I kind of have to nominate my own codex for most powerful thing I've seen lately. It's getting kind of annoying having so much firepower that my friends don't like playing games with me anymore (yeah I know...I'm complaining about how awesome I am)

Well i think that the Serpent is an incredibly powerful tank. The best in the game. In a team RTT it took me one Serpent to kill a downed winged DP. 11 hits most of them wounds.

The Doom's old problem was instant death, and transports. In a mech heavy 5e this often meant few targets. Of course if you let the Doom boost up to a statline full of 10s you're in deep.

How's nobody said Draigo yet...? He's one of the few 200+ point characters that's actually worth it.

Otherwise, they're not ridiculous on their own, but multiple Necron flying cheeses are just the worst. And Vendettas are too good for their cost.

It's not really ONE unit that's the problem for me. One Helldrake, I can deal with, three, no. One Vendetta, I can deal with, three, no. A couple of Necron Flyers I can deal with, nine of them, certainly not.

That doubles in Strength against Daemons and (I think) Psykers. Which means he can take on An'ggrath and win.

I like that there are very few multiples of the same answer in this thread. It seems there are a lot of powerful units out there and there isn't one that is the general consensus.

High water mark for me would be the White dwarf Flamers of Tzeentch, nine jump troop guys with 2 wounds each, eternal warrior, and 4+ to wound 4+ to glance ap2 templates.

So glad they are gone.

Noise marines would be IF AND ONLY IF they could combat squad

Fliers: you know something is broken when they have to create the quad-gun just for some armies to be playable against them. It would be better if we could take more of them (the quad guns)

So you mean you could have 5 with 2 blastmasters in a tower and 5CCW with the champ+doom siren running around in a rhino, still wouldnt be OP but might give PM more of a run for their money as best cult troop.

Fair point, I forgot that combat squad SR limits it to 10 man squads.

I was imagining 4 blast masters in a squad of 5 with FNP in a bastion and the other 15 split into 5 man squads all with FNP and sonic Blasters.

Not even close. An'ggrath has a 2+ save and could concievably kill draigo in 2 turns.

There's a few units that are OP in combination with another unit and/or a HQ. Very few are totally overwhelming alone.

Helldrakes do take the cake against full PA armies that usually expect they'd be able to take a save. Necron Lords with MSS can give just about any HQ a run for the money. People curse St Celestine for getting up again, denying them Slay the Warlord and First Blood.

But it's still combos that win the game, not a single unit. So-called Chaos Space Marines with only a CSM HQ, 2x cultists as troops and the rest filled with the killiest stuff imaginable. Helldrakes kill, cultists keep objectives and the rest just serve as speed bumps or kill off damaged units.

Which is, incidentally, why I don't consider Tau as broken as some people claim. Their troops are really soft but they need them to claim objectives AND add to the killing power of the firing line. They have to risk their scoring units in order to win.
