Is the snow just straight up painted?

Yes indeed, the snow is painted on. The caveat is that it was painted with weathering powders. Mixing them with the Realistic Water, I was able to get various textures... some more powdery, others more glossy, like partially melted snow...

The mosaic bases are lots of fun. Once you get the concept down, they are not terribly long to complete!

This thread is completely awesome, but really more of a painting and modelling blog than a showcase one since you are showing process and updating with a variety of styles and techniques.

Moving it over, both for being in the appropriate spot, and also because I think this will get a lot more traffic over there being what it is!

OK, sir, Ive been quite a huge fan of your painting for quite a while, and your style has been an influence on my own for sure! Thanks for posting this and, i suppose, making yourself and your knowledge available to us lesser painters! On a very selfish note, if you ever found the time to check out my stuff, any comments or criticism would be worth it weight in gold! Which i guess, literally, is zero. But you get my point....thanks again for this fantastic post! I do hope there is much more to come!!
