Wherever they tell me

If someone made a custom model for a Chaplain, but instead modeled it with a power sword instead of a power mace, would you let them play it as such?

I'm going to be working on a conversion soon and was wondering what people thought.

The Crozius Arcanum is both the weapon and badge of office of a Space Marine Chaplain. He shouldn't have a sword.

Rmmm, odd one. Personally I'd allow it, but in reverse, I wouldn't expect my opponent to allow it.
I had a Chaplain that had double lightning claws, from the days when they could take them. Everyone has allowed me to use it as standard kit.

They FAQed it. It's a power maul now.

You can use whatever way to represent a power maul you want, so long as you use the stats for the power maul.

well, you could make the sword hand look like a crozarius! that would look cool and you can tell everyone the sword blade is just for decoration, he really does whack people with it =P

Old DA interrogator chaplain had a sword and maul.

My old chaplain was converted from him. I removed the mace (as for the previous several editions, it was simply a "power weapon", and what it looked like did not matter. I don't play 6th ed).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Yeah it has to be a power maul, so even if you model it otherwise it still has the same profile. Still, power mauls have their uses and are quite good in my experience (especially with xenos becoming more prominent).

i think im confused, are you just trying to run your chaplain as it is on paper, but modeled with a Sword? Or are you trying to run him with a sword rule instead of a mace rule? Of the former, yes, no problem, if the latter, heck no!

Rule of cool, if it looks good do it. It's just a game & it's your model. Hell for malifaux I converted a model into barney from the simpsons & am working on turning another one into a buckingham palace guard.

I voted no because of the "play it as such" portion of the question. I'd be cool with the model looking however he wanted it to, but it should always be played as a power maul if it's a chaplain.

Um, if you ally in a DA Chaplain, sure (they can take PS), otherwise, NO. You can't convert in something way better in the current meta and expect to be able to use it, just because.

Seriously, grab 5 tactical marines and take a DA Chaplain. Then you don't have to ask anyone anything... plus they can have tons of other cool toys that open up all sorts of conversion options.

Wherever they tell me

Sorry, to clarify. I'm working on converting a model and would like to use it as a chaplain. It's the captain from the DV set that I otherwise have absolutely no use for. Honestly I'd much prefer him to have a Power Axe instead but the model has a sword. So no I'm not trying to make him "better" because of the meta, I more would just rather have the model be WYSIWYG.

I can't ally in a DA chaplain because I already am allying vanilla marines with BA.

I wouldn't agree with your choice of modelling, but I wouldn't complain.

If it looked like a bladed Crozius I'd think it was badass though.

I'd allow a sword as long as it uses the PM rules and looks like it would have those rules, i.e the blade looks blunt and oriented for bashing.

Due to the feedback, I'm strongly considering doing the conversion to a BA priest instead of a chaplain.

Any good ideas for that?

sure

or you can pay an additional 15 points and then he has a power sword and a power maul and can use either one he likes, with +1 attack for having 2 weapons

Somewhere dark, cold and scary (A.K.A my mind)

I wouldn't mined from both a modelling and gaming viewpoint,
but considering the Crozius Arcanum is a badge of office I think you should still include it on the model, somewhere on the belt maybe. but its your model

May your rolls be high and your victories countless
