Obviously, GW have chosen the Eye of Horus as Horus's symbol due to the mythological connotations of the Egyptian god Horus having lost his eye in a battle against Seth to avenge the death of Osiris, but I'm wondering what the fluff is for the Eye of Horus in the 40K context?

Also, is it in any way linked to the Socharis Dynasty? I found an obscure (really obscure) indication that the eye depicted on the Emperors armour is the sign of the 'Socharis Dynasty'. However, I don't have a fething clue whether the 'Socharis Dynasty is a real piece of 40K fluff, and not just some fan's imagination as I know next to nothing on that particular subject.

Eye of Horus?
The symbol of the all seeing eye of the Warmaster and therefore Terra / Imperium / Big E.

I don't think GW put much thought into egyptian mythology. Just copy pasted the name Horus, gave the egyptian look and feel to the Thousand sons led by Magnus. So Horus doesn't avenge his father. He even got a Legion of Wolves....

We were wrong. It's not the 40k End Times. It's the Trademarkening.

I had hoped that there would be some sort of funky back-story to it :( Ah well...
