I have been looking some picture that has loads of old school ork banners like this: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110727053314/warhammer40k/images/d/d0/Badrukk.jpg

Also I want to make 'ard boyz with few riot shields (not the entire unit). I thought it would be cool if each shield had a letter which together would spell out out a word but I can't think anything interesting.

ty in advance.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

For your shield idea, I suggest you take a look at the Ork Codex, page 30, and use proper Orky letters...looks better than using English IMO (if you don't mind people who want to read it having to look it up ).

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

Shields?

Use this:

Trukk's armor plating that nobody ever uses. Slice it in half, each trukk gives you 4 awesome orky shields. My friends call this the Door Nob and i field him for the laughs of that name even though i never buy the armor for him.

Door Nob wins a challenge. Did he slam your fingers in the frame?

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

14000pts Big 'n Bad Orkz
6000pts Admech/Knights
7500pts Necron Goldboys

Doors from the BW kit work well too.

My Ard boys are sporting doors, engine grilles, signs, bits of random bike plating, kan and dredd spare parts...

Shields and heavy shoulder pads are easy conversions.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

The easiest and funniest thing I can think of is to make it spell out WAAAGH! with the number of As in the word dependent on the number of Orks in the unit facing forward.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

I can just imagine a lot of orks standing around ghazkhull as he is in a challenge and act as cheerleaders by writing S M A S H H I M G H A Z ! on their shields. There would always be one ork who gets a letter mixed up...

1. Go to FLGS on a 40K game night.
2. Announce to no one in particular "I have over 10,000 points of Space Marines".
3. Sit back and watch as some 30-ish Neckbeard who still lives with his parents not only disputes your claim, but goes on to describe his 30,000 points of Blood Angels and how he has been playing since Rogue Trader days... And yet you will have never seen him either play 40K or that army.
4. From here, you have several options. Continue the conversation, or just end it. Either way, I guarantee you will waste 1+ hour of your life talking to this guy. Have fun!

The point of the shields is to have people able to read the word(s). I haz to spell me wordz fer dem oomies ' cause dem oomies are too stoopid to read.

I had similiar idea but not about this project. I wanted to have proppa orky tape measure. Instead of inches (numbers) you have the tapemeasure spell waaaa...aaagh.

I mainly don't the entire unit to have shields because I can easily convert the unit from ard boyz to normal shoota/slugga by replacing shield boyz.
