These lists are for an upcoming team game, in which I will be allied with Tau, to fight off the green skins. Can't decide which to use, go ahead tell me what's wrong.

List #1 -
HQ -
Autarch

Troops -
5 Dire Avengers -
Wave Serpent - SL, SC, Holofields
5 Dire Avengers -
Wave Serpent - SL, SC, Holofields
5 Dire Avengers -
Wave Serpent - SL, SC, Holofields

Fast Attack -
Crimson Hunter -

Heavy -
Fire Prism -
--------------------------------------
List #2 -

HQ -
Spiritseer

Troops -
5 Wraithguard -
Wave Serpent - SL, SC, Holofields, Ghostwalk Matrix
5 Wraithguard -
Wave Serpent - SL, SC, Holofields, Ghostwalk Matrix

Fast attack -
Vyper - dual SC

Heavy -
Wraithknight

They both have their pro's and con's but I feel like maybe the second one does not have enough dakka, and the first one has plenty. I suppose a lot of the decision has to do with me just getting my wraithknight the other day and I'm jonesing to use it.

thoughts? comments?

It all depends on what your Tau friend is bringing, If he is providing the Overwhelming application of firepower, then the second list would be batter as it gives you some very survivable, mobile scoring units. However if that is not the style of your partners Tau army then the first list would be better as it simply provides the firepower needed to kill enough of the orks to claim objectives. Anti-Air should probably be covered by the Tau but I feel like your first list does help in that department but the second one does not. Do you know what your partner might be fielding as this will help us figure out what your duo needs.

From what i see, i like the first list. Wave Serpents are amazing so, the more the merrier, and the top list has more dakka. If your friend is bringing a lot of FW and BC Suits, then I'd be leaning towards the second.

I agree with everything said above. I prefer first list, but it really depends on your buddies list.

I'd probably drop the CH and the Prism for two Night Spinners, vs. Orks.

Autarchs are pretty bad, even if you are only doing it for reserves Id still be leaving to a farseer

^ This....A Farseer's versatility with the chance for some devestating psychic powers is enough to stomp Autarch's anyway, then you have the normal Guide/Prescience which makes your shooting considerably better.

I am playing this evening. Here is the list I ended on:

Farseer - jetbike
5 Dire Avengers
Wave Serpent - SC, SL, Holofields
5 Dire Avengers
Wave Serpent - SC, SL, Holofields
3 Wildrider Jetbikes
9 Warp Spiders
Wraithknight

It is essentially a hybrid of the two lists with a little modification to bring in warp spiders. The farseer will be hiding with his warlord who has iriduim armour and hiding in a bunch of markerlights. The jetbikes will hide in reserves as long as I can... and the rest will dakka. The plan is to use the farseer to guide and prescience the warp spiders and warithknight so the whole army can be twin linked.

I'm not too savvy with Tau stuff, so he gave me his list, but I don't know what most of it means. here it is:

HQ
Commander - Crisis battlesuit, Drone controller, Missile pod, Plasma rifle, Target lock, XV8-02 Crisis 'Iridium' Battlesuit
Elites
XV104 Riptide - Ion accelerator, Riptide battlesuit, Riptide Shield Generator, Stimulant injector, Twin-linked smart missile system, Velocity tracker
Troops
11x Fire Warrior Shas'la with pulse rifle, Photon grenades - Devilfish - Burst cannon, Two Gun Drones
11x Fire Warrior Shas'la with pulse rifle, Photon grenades - Devilfish - Burst cannon, Two Gun DronesFast Attack (56pts)
Drone Squadron - 4x Marker Drone, 4x Markerlight
Heavy Support
Hammerhead Gunship - Automated repair system, Disruption pod, Railgun with submunitions, Twin-linked smart missile system
Longstrike - Hammerhead Ace, Preferred Enemy (Imperial Guard), Tank Hunters
XV02 Pilot Battlesuit (Supporting Fire)

Those two lists look like they'd work well. You both have enough dakka to massacre orks and enough anti tank to pop wagons. Look Good

Should be a very solid combination. I love your swap out of the Crimson Hunter for Warp Spiders...a MUCH better unit for such a game.

A difficult game, as our dice were against us in the beginning, but we pulled out a victory, six turns big guns. I like my list, I think I'll try it a couple more times but i may cut the wraithknight out in favor of more units... we'll see.

He failed his first three armour saves so he was down to three wounds in the first turn, but honestly he survived until the sixth turn, so no complaints here.
