So I'm starting my salamnders, and I'm making each model different and unique. Does anyone know good places to convert and or build special salamnders stuff? And also I would like to make my own Vulcan hestan... Thinking along the lines of green stuff over commanders cloak, exacto knife to make scales, and other stuff.

Found some cool stuff on FW, but what do you guys think?

I do drugs.
Mostly Plastic Crack, but I do dabble in Cardboard Cocaine.

You could use parts dragon elements from WFB rang like dragon parts and the DE cloaks. Also the Salamanders are in the next FW HH book in September so there should be some stuff coming out then.

The lizardmen range might have some nice parts that you can use. The shields for example are often used on salamanders models.
And i second the fantasy DE corair cloaks.
Those are still wip but you can see the cloaks in action:

Another option to think about as well. Salamanders live solitary lives when not fighting amongst their battle brothers. In that time they focus on crafting their own weapons and technology. Back in 3rd Edition I know that all Salmanders Veteran Sergeants were considered tech Marines and could repair tanks if they had become immobilized during the course of the game. Something to take in. With my Salamanders I usually make any Veteran in the army have a red or white helmet to help push this along.

I guess my point is, they all dont have to be covered in Lizard skins you could have your Donatello's of the group who love their tech gear!

Also, Let me apologize for the image below. Received these models in a trade was too lazy to strip them of their bad primer so it shows! My terminators follow a gold color scheme to help them stand out, and they have a Sarus warrior shield to represent their Storm Shields. It's a minor conversion but the paint job has helped them stand out as a unit in a sea of otherwise green.

Attention Campers. Lunch has been canceled today, due to lack of hustle.......Deal with it.

Vulkan:
Captains cloak with some cheesy GS blobs on it for texture.
Gauntlet is a PF with a section of an IG smoke launcher added as the flamer part.
Spear is a fancy eldar/elf sword (not sure where it came from...saw it in the FLGS parts bin and thought it looked cool).
Backpack: cut off the spheres and added dragon heads from the Chaos gun bits.

Simple, quick, and has all the parts per the codex entry.
And its all plastic, not Failcast.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
One thing to add...you may want to get you generic stuff built for now (Bolter guys, Rhino/Razorbacks, etc) and wait a few weeks before going with the specilty stuff (heavy weapons, melta/flmaer/plasma/etc, HQ choices).
We are a few weeks away from a brand new Codex and we have no idea what changes and additions are being made to the thing.
For all we know Vulkan may get nerfed and you loose your army wide twin-link buffs.
Or the new Grav-Guns are much better and their is a new HQ/Chapter that buffs them into pure awesome-sauce.
It would suck to drop several hundred dollars on plastic, only to discover you need to now drop a few hundred more to get the actual viable units you want to use.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?
