Many thanks for the kind words!

White is never an easy color to manage, and it is even more so on a complex set of surfaces like these!

Here are a few more images:

Normally, I don't work with pure white at all. It is typically some form of off white... there is some yellow, blue of red in it, no matter how tiny the amount.

Awesome! I have been debating about getting the FW bikes when I restart my white scars army. After seeing them painted in white scars colours I definitely will be using them.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Thanks again for the kind words! What helped a great deal was using the filbert brushes. They have a large flat surface, but also a tapered edge, and that allows you to blend nicely on the mini itself. You can work faster, which means that the paint stays wetter for longer!

The smoothness of the whites is outstanding. Everything just ties in together without looking too 'comic booky'. Outstanding work. Thanks for sharing.

I am glad that you have been enjoying these! Anytime you paint such pure white, you always get a little uneasy :-)

The white started out as Valejo Intermediate Blue. Using my #4 filbert brush (and some glaze medium to keep the paint moist), I added white scar white (yes, indeed), little by little. The larger brush and the glaze medium allowed me to do some wet blending. Also, the tapered edges of those filbert brushes helps to blend.

Those brushes are so important, they get a few minutes of solo coverage in every video... and even in my live workshops

Does the glaze medium try to speed up your dry time? I picked up a bottle of that by accident (was after matte medium) and on the bottle it said it speeds dry times. Do you add a retarder for dryness? Also do you ever do the "2 brush method" or do you strictly wetblend and glaze? Also as always, beautiful!

Many thanks!

The glaze medium keeps the paint wetter for longer. Sometimes significantly longer. It will also make it somewhat more transparent, but all this is part of the plan. Since I use a large palette, I typically have the whole color range that I will be using mixed and spread out on the palette. All the colors are already there, I just need to apply them with the filbert brush...

For the Lion and Terra!

Because nothing in the galaxy is black and white, Mankind views the Space Marines as a last resort. The last line. When all else fails. They take up the burden. The noble defenders of Mankind. The last hope.

Those bikes rule, and you have truly done them justice. You really gave them depth by using grey effectively and blending well. The bases are not only cool, but well done - you didn't skimp on them as I am often tempted to. Not to mention you went with the White Scars, one of the coolest, but most under-utilized chapters out there. Seriously, how can't there be more people playing crazed Mongol Space Warriors?
