Probably a pretty common IG mech list format, I just want to have a few people look at it before I field it against a BA player's own mech list tomorrow. This is basically going to be the typical Vets in Chimeras, Russ MBTs, Vendettas, and deepstriking Stormtroopers. Let us begin:

HQ:
180 pts

Company Command Squad - 50 pts
Lord Castellan Creed - 90 pts
Regimental Standard -15 pts
Vox-Caster - 5 pts
Astropath - 10 pts
Officer of the Fleet -10 pts

Elites:
315 pts

Storm Trooper Squad - 85 pts
Meltaguns - 20 pts

Fast Attack
390 pts

Vendetta Gunship Squadron - 390 pts

Heavy Support
510 pts

Leeman Russ Squadron - 450 pts
Heavy Bolter Sponsons - 60 pts

By now, you've probably figured out what I plan to do with this list. Start out by having the Vendettas and the stormtroopers on the sidelines, and just have the Chimeras with Veterans in them put around for a bit, while the scouted russes give the enemy armor a hard time. The Astropath will hopefully allow me to bring in my Vendettas plus the stormtroopers, and the Officer of the Fleet should keep the enemy strikers on hold. The Blood Angel player loves to deep strike dreadnoughts, so I'll definitely be watching out for that. The veterans will show up, blow up a tank or two, then die. When the three vendettas show up, however, they'll likely provide enough firepower to carve their way through the heavier tanks that BA can bring, and the bolters on the Russes and Chimeras should finish off whatever infantry is still in one piece. The Veterans will hop on the objectives, and then wait it out in hard cover.

That is, if everything goes according to plan. Which it doesn't. Anyway, penny for your thoughts on this list? It's pretty basic, but I'm fairly new to 40k.

Personally I would drop one storm trooper squadron for Marbo, then I would find points for a chimera for the ccs.

You think so? In my experience, Marbo has been far from reliable.

Are the Vendettas actually in a Squadron, or have you just listed it that way?If they are make them into 3 separate units of one 'detta each so as to increase your target saturation and your split-fire capabilities.

Im not sure if you're aware but russes are heavy an dont have lumbering behemoth so if you fire an ordnance weapon all other weapons have to snap fire. So you may be able to fire all weapons but all those heavy bolters have to snap fire. I would drop all the heavy bolter and use the points to add more melta guns on each of the vets.

You should edit your first post to remove the individual points costs of all of your upgrades - this is a standard rule for posting in the Army List forum (see the sticky post).

On another note, Regimental Advisors (the Astropath and OotF) are 30 points apiece, so your list is over budget by a little bit. You could probably save on some points by dropping the Heavy Bolter sponsons on your LRBT's, or the Demolitions Doctrines from your Vets, as you already have more than enough Melta.

Also, if you're gonna take Creed, you might as well take Kell as well, assuming you can find the points to field him.

Side effects of worshiping Papa Nurgle include (and are not limited to): Boils, scabs, internal bleeding, external bleeding, bleeding from the gums, eyes and ears, sweating, dehydration, furuncles, rash, pus-filled sores, nausea, vomiting, bloody vomit, black vomit, black & bloody vomit, sneezing, runny nose, dry nose, coughing, dry cough, wet cough, not-so-dry-but-still-raspy coughing, fever, hay fever, athlete's foot, athlete's arm, swimmer's ear, farmer's tongue, drowsiness, sleepiness, insomnia, mad cow disease, mad postal worker disease, loose bowels, constipation, anal leakage, and blood clotting. In most cases side effects were generally in the extreme and permanent. Consult your local cultist before worshiping Nurgle.

You do not need Creed as you cannot issue orders to units inside a vehicle.

The Veterans will not need the vox casters as inside vehicles, they won't be receiving orders that much. You also need another two troop units for 2k.

The Leman Russes should be split into singles. There is no need to drop three large blasts and 12 heavy bolter shots on a single unit. Splitting them up allows you to shoot at more targets.

Hope that helps.

I forgot to mention that. If your running creed you really need to be playing foot guard to issue orders to all the squads as well because the main reason you take creed is for issueing 4 orders at great distances and troops in transports cant recieve orders.

Also if you run creed ive found that kell really is great with him. It allows you to pass order easily and gives you a banner and some close combat survivability with his weapons. Its expensive to run both them together but you pretty much pass all orders, you can outflank a unit, have a banner for rerolling moral and have some decent close combat weapons. But i would only take the 2 in 1850pts and above as they are expensive and need to be run in infantry heavy armies.
