There may be many (or most?) of you who wonder "what is YTTH?" That is the short name for "Yes the Truth Hurts".com. That is a site for "competetive gamers". It is run by a person named Stelek. I forgot his real name. Some of you may have met him before. He is quite a character. Anyway, he is famous because it was him and him alone that created the meta for how people played (universally) in 5th edition. He even helped to create the nova open. So he bears great responsiblity for the golden age of 40K.

Now, his site has some rather not-nice parts about it. I thought we could develop a respectul but strong critique of it. All of the "big people" or "great people" in 40K, like Stelek, Tony Kopach and the rest deserve more then just admiration: they deserve critique as well.

I intend this to be respectful and not to break the rules of this site. So try to not say things like "I would spit in his face".

I would start the discussion off with: what about the personality cult (you know, like the one Stalin had) that arose? The way that people defer to him, admire him like some sort of god and all of that. What do you think about that? What about the way that anyone that dissents on his page is summarily banned, after being sworn at and abused verbally by at least half a dozen people?

Any thoughts?

Someone who is vocal, had published some good ideas, got like-minded people together. Brought some attention to 40k. All the power to him.

What is the need to critique? He has not changed, criticism is usually derived from change. He is as advertised.

Why the need for "admiration" or deserving of "critique"?
These are people who do their thing, not a movie or a game system.

People get banned from people's sites, it happens, its theirs, it does not have to be fair. If you do not like it, do not draw attention to it. You are doing him a favor if you do not like the site.

My thoughts: what is the "intent" for this? What concrete thing are you trying to achieve? Get enough people to speak up and say they were attacked by this guy to make you feel better? "Critique", to what purpose??

You can always post on his site "An appropriate, respectful critique of the site known as "Dakka Dakka" ".

I find that the more a person bleats on about being 'respectful', the less respectful they actually are.

Protip: Saying "I intend to be respectful" does not automatically make it respectful, not does it make you immune from being called on it.

Since I played 5th for ~6 months before I'd ever heard of Stelek and have played against over a dozen people that were the same...

There is no sarcasm on this thread, we are dealing with an actual real life man God. I must have played a different Warhammer 40K 5th ed. because I have never, ever, ever, ever to the fourth power heard of this person until today.

Wait... Im not understanding what the OP wants us to talk about? I have never heard of this Stelek person, and if he had created the 5th edition meta (you know... when GK and BA ruled the scene) I certainly wont respect him in a competitive way (but im sure he's a nice person ), if it was him anyway (I am extremely against any sort of Netlist) and who are all these people? are these just people who did well in many tournaments?

I think I need more context if I am to contribute, this is a very confusing question for me.
