"So seek the wolf in thyself!" - Author Unknown, M2
Well, while the Sons of Russ aren't getting a new Codex at the moment, the Space Marines are. So with a new codex, I return to my first and my favorite army, the Vlka Fenryka. This Space Wolf Army will (hopefully) make an attempt to use the 6th Edition Space Marines Codex and the 5th Edition Space Wolves Codex, until my Wolves can get some of that 6th ed love.
My goal is to finish a 2000 point Space Wolves army, as it stands right now I have roughly 1000 points of models built that need to be painted.
A little about the project:
Back in February or March of this year,
Gitsplitta had put out the call for someone looking to do a quick and dirty Great Marine Swap. Gits had a Librarian in Jump Pack painted for his Mantis Warriors and was looking to swap it for a basic boltgun marine. I immediately jumped on this, as a
GMS trade with Gits is next to impossible (it's easier to get Justin Bieber tickets!). So I set about working on this guy:
I tried to keep limits on this model, like it had to be Mk6 armor or older as Gits army doesn't have anything newer, limited colors, and to try something new (battle damage). I like how he came out and it was an honor to hand him to such a prominent Dakkanaut. Here he is in his fully based and finaly shot glory:
With that trade completed, I really started to get the hankering for returning to my first
40k army. I had stopped playing them because when I started
40k, they were the hot thing, and everyone I played with assumed that I was hopping on the bandwagon, instead of just agreeing with me that Drunk Werewolf Space Vikings are awesome! So I drifted away from the Wolves and eventually from
40k. A small campaign at my store has got me working on my Wolves once again. Here is a test
WG model that I've been using, as well as some of the models from the Grey Hunter Pack he runs with. Currently I'm playing around with Bran Redmaw (from
IA 12) and will be working on a conversion (if no one can find a suitable alternative model).
