For my 1000th post I wanted to say thank you to everyone here on DakkaDakka. I love this community, contentious and angry as it may be, and appreciate so much what it does for the gaming community as a whole. I haven't been able to play much 40k these past couple years at college (pretty much my only complaint about the experience), but this site has kept me involved with the community, up to date on the latest news and strategies, and feeling like I'm still a part of the hobby I love so much. I'm sure it'll continue to be my connection to the gaming world for the next two years as well, and I hope everyone else appreciates this site as much as I do. So cheers, everybody, and here's to the next 1000 posts!

PS: Thanks, Dakka, for introducing me to X-Wing! I never would have found it if it weren't for you!

DakkaDakka has a lot of negativity sometimes but overall it's bursting at the seams with positive people ready to help, comment, discuss anything hobby related, not to mention extremely helpful to "noobs".

Edit: Oh, and let's not forget the mods are some the best. They don't allow bad behavior but aren't complete tyrants (yet! )

Agreed with all posts here! It is very helpful for those new to the hobby or to those returning to the hobby. It's also excellent for learning about obscure related hobbies.

I see us sometimes as a bunch of grumpy old men that bicker back and forth, often just for the sake of bickering, but at the core of it, we all love our games and hobbies and just want the best out of them.

I also just want to say that I love each and every one of you.

Glad to see so many people share my views here. It's nice to see the positivity come to the surface occasionally .

Even in negativity it is largely spurred-on by a need to try to fix what is bugging us.

We are one big support group for all types and yes, even the trolls - they are our pets! They need proper feeding and care like the rest of us.

In all seriousness, it is great to have a group to bounce ideas around: I have never learned anything from those who have agreed with me, so thanks as well for the brutal honesty.

As someone who also just reached 1000 posts, I have to agree that I love me some Dakka Dakka. For about a decade I haven't been able to do much gaming, but Dakka has helped me to keep up with the hobby.

I agree with the posters above, Dakka for all its flaring bursts of anger are by large a friendly place. And gratzs on your 1000th post!

Nice post. Dakka is one of a few wargaming-related sites that gets alot of traffic from me. Lots of great information, knowlegable participants and a good time.

Also because they achieve a surprisingly effective balance in moderation between giving alot of leeway in expression, but keeping a tight rein where necessary to prevent flamewars and the like. Makes for a place to visit that is lively and nice.

As a new user, but who's lurked and found tons of great advice and links this thread makes me look forward to sticking around for a while.

Exalted, i love dakka, its just seeping with information and friendly people, whats not to love about friendly people? I probably come here daily, but it still kinda irks me that i forgot to do an introduction post. too late!

Always nice and motivating to hear positive feedback, thanks and I hope you continue to enjoy it for years to come.

I love this website as well. I think I would've quit this hobby a long before I got an army together if it wasn't for this place.

As a brand new member of Dakka Dakka, I think I can agree with you sir

Although I have not posted on Dakka for quite a while, it's still the place that I come to for hobby and modelling advice when I need it. Or, as is the case at the moment, when I have fallen out of love with the wargaming hobby in general, it's the place where I come to gain inspiration and fresh ideas.

As with other forums, Dakka has it's fair share of D-Bags, but it's still a one-stop-shop for all gaming and painting advice.

Between here, /tg/ and various other blogs, it's one of the best places for my daily warham fix around.

Dakka's community is remarkably well-informed and helpful.

Without Dakka and the community I would have dropped out the hobby a long time ago, Thanks Dakka

I really enjoy coming to this community- lots of well-informed people with varying opinions, lots of different games being discussed, people from several different countries posting everyday with unique perspectives, and an active and fair mod team that hold it all together. Hopefully it won't go in the can anytime soon.
