Anyone backing this? There's a day or so left for its kickstarter, though unfortunately its not met its higher stretch goals just yet. The premise is essentially Minecraft mixed with DayZ. Ie a fully destructible world with crafting and base building, mixed into the zombie survival genre. Like Minecraft you spend the day searching for resources and securing your home, whilst at night you do your best to defend it against the suddenly much more aggressive zombies/ cower in the attic*. I'll be waiting till its greenlit on Steam until I get into it probably, but its looking pretty intriguing thus far.
* Though as the environment is destructible, and a building must be supported lest it fall down, that's not to say that sitting on the roof all night's going to be safe. A horde will eventually bring down a building given time and an ill prepared player.

And here I was hoping this would be a Kickstarter for a Chzo mythos remake.

Interesting, voxel based modern post-apocalyptic gameplay, complete with physics.
I don't like a lot of the gameplay though. The 5x5 crafting is too minecrafty. The building is too minecrafty, it feels like Day Z (sorry, the infected).
I took a risk and backed it at the $35 level, the possibility that this game could become the next 'Minecraft' is what really appealed to me.
I'm currently waiting for my Alpha key to be sent out, unsurprisingly Fun Pimps didn't put any effort into upgrading their servers in anticipation of the 10,000+ Kickstarter backers who would be downloading the Alpha. Because of this they've had to limit the amount of keys being sent out to roughly 500 every few hours so their servers don't crash.

Goddamnit, those graphics are awful. I mean, reallly awful. I'd expect better from a GameCube game.
The "realistic" textures and character models really clash with the cubed landscape as well.

Completely new and never-heard-of backstory! Fascinating graphics! Totally different gameplay!
*yawn*
Nope, not interesting in the least.
Also, why the hell do cars in 2034 look exactly the same as today?

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

And really, its gameplay that matters. Its an indie game, you shouldn't be expecting fantastic graphics. Minecraft is bloody 16bit and people play that to death. =P
I disagree to some extent, i think cohesive aesthetics are pretty important. Minecraft would be a good example for me, you could argue it's ugly but it's very consistent and i think alot of enjoyment comes from 'inhabiting' a consistent world.
Alot of ps2 era games still look great for the same reason despite, when you boil it down, having straight-up inferior graphics.
The most frequent complaint against a games visuals is an 'Unfinished' look. I think the blocks simply look like Primitives that haven't been given nice meshes yet and are just there as placeholders.
Mary Sue wrote: Perkustin is even more awesome than me!
The blocks in 7 Days to Die? Yeah, those are place holders. As I've said earlier they're going to be replaced so the game has a smoothed out landscape like any other. One really shouldn't be criticising an indie game that's in pre alpha for its unappealing graphics (though personally they don't bother me), rather this thread was more to judge how people liked the game's concept.
Me and a friend just got this game and it's absolutely brilliant despite a few bugs.
It's actually quite fun to try to survive and fight other players
We liked it so much we're doing a series (shameless self promotion) :
Again, it is a really fun game to play once you get over the multiplayer bug where things don't get picked up and just stay rendered in your RAM.
My RAM usage went up to 4.5GB because of this :/

4.5? I can deal with that...
This game looks pretty cool.
Might pick it up later when it's released.
