Hey!
I’m currently working on Ciaphas Cain and his ‘retinue’. So far I found a suitable commissar..i know the chain sword should be in his right hand..

(Brother Vinni + chain sword and laser pistol and a lot of prep work, i got a lousy cast), but I am having a hard time finding any miniatures with great coats that look acceptable. I had a look at wargamesfactory, but these guys don’t look right. The same goes for the old GW Valhallans, too bulky to look good next to the commissar.
Does anyone here know where to get good looking great coat guardsmen? Thanks!

Well there's always death korps of krieg models, hard to get a better greatcoat than those.

If you're looking for greatcoats, then death korps of krieg is definitely the place to look like badablack has already mentioned.
About Cain: his chainsword looks way too big for my tastes can't imagine a human being able to lift that

Ha, didn't think about the Death Korps..thanks! Are the heads separate or cast on?
You should see Cain's chain sword on the covers of the books, it is even bigger..

It looks like a few of the Krieg kits have separate heads, hard to tell from the site. And there's two different Cains, the propaganda version that dual-wields Eviscerators and punches out Carnifexes...and the real version that never goes near a melee if he can help it.

They don't make Valhallans with melta guns, so getting his sidekick might be tough.

They used to make a valhallan with a melta. Also the flamer guy looks pretty easy to convert.

Given that Cain is in his normal uniform (and not bundled up in arctic gear) it would make sense for the Valhallans to be in "tropical" order

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Hehe this is a good project, Are you planning on making any other important characters from Cains adventures, I have never actually seen a Reclaimers SM army done yet (could be cool).

That's a good point...I might get either Kasrkin or Storm Troopers and convert these a bit. I'm still looking for a decent miniature for Amberley Vail, any advice?
