Subject: APOCALYPSE! Orks army, many many points

Ork Boy Hangin' off a Trukk

Hello, Dakka!
I am soon to be playing a potentially staggering amount of Apocalypse games, as my FLGS is starting a planetstrike campaign. Unfortunately, I don't have any super heavies or gargantuan things, but I will be allowed to proxy anything that is *about* the same size as what I'm fielding. So that being said, I would like suggestions on what to take for these games. They will either be 4000 (most common) or 6000 (rarely). I have a ton of boys, bikes, and vehicles. I can proxy MANS if that's a good idea, but I only have four as is. I have never played Apoc before, so I'm totally new to the game play, though I have been studying the rules a lot. I also have legit rules for all the units, mobs, vehicles and whatnots, so feel free to reference anything that you know about. If I don't know what you're talking about, I'll just question it in a reply.
Any help is greatly appreciated! WAAAAAGH!!

Take a fleet of Battlewagons and pack them full of MegaNobz and boyz.
Cram the power of a crapload of Ork infantry into the easy mobility of a bunch of transports. It's worth it if for no other reason than because it means you don't have to move 4000pts of Orks one by one every turn.
I'm pretty sure theres a battlewagon formation, something to do with making a wall of deff rollas and getting bonus hits. Might make it vulnerable to enormous apocalypse templates though.
If you really wanted to you could easily fit 4000pts into ten battlewagons with a bunch of Megabosses and forcefield Meks. If you do take MegaNobz though, I recommend you throw Grotsnik in there someplace and then give every last one of them cybork bodies.

There is in fact a battlewagon formation. There is also a nobz formation. The two are easilly combined. The wagons get a 4+ cover and get to reroll deff rolla hits, and the nobs are fearless and FnP. Woot.

The nob formation makes you take 5 warbosses (1 might be ghazzkul) the nob groups can be normal nobz, biker nobz or mega nobz. with the bonuses added above AND a bombardment
All the ork formations are awesome, the burna bommer squadron formation itself is also sweet.
As for apoc.. Get a stompa or two, allways have that big mek KFF avaible it saves allot but the destroyer hits ignore cover so rush forward!
As mentiond above, Battlewagon formation is sweet for either a 4+ cover save or reroll's on the D6 deffrolla hits.
Manz i put them into BW had a awesome combat with 9 meganobz + ghazzkul against 9 termies and marnus celgar once Meganobz ftw!
The dreadmob is better with the new apoc book getting all those uppgrades once again is too sweet to resist. they can cause some mayhem.
Greentide, Not a must but it's a good addition HAVE IN MIND they take time to deploy and you are given a certain time to deploy all your units, if one aint standing when the time's up they are out of the game and into reserve.
It's apoc and you want to cause mayhem, what's better than some firework?! TANKBUSTAS! get them into a battlewagon and fill that wagon aswell with rokkits!

So, without stompas, I could take a BW formation with Nobz (MANS or green skins), and then throw up to 300 boys at them from strategic reserves.
5 BW/deff rolla/2 big shoota - 600
5 Nobz squads w/bosses - 1565 total
3 MANS - 5 ea - 600
2 green skin - 2PK, 3 BC, 5 t/l shoota ea - 280
4 warbosses - Mega armour, squig, BP - 460
Ghazzy (in all his glory) - 225
Green tide w/boss -
10 boys squads - 20ea, nob, PK - 1550
Warboss - Eavy armour, squig, PK, shoota - 105
Total... 3820 points! That adds up FAST. 180 points left. I don't even know if I have that many models... I'll have to find out. Maybe I could take fewer boys and throw a stompa in. Or take the Mad Dok and make 'em all cybork. What do you all think?

Cybork the MANz. If they ever go up against Terminators its the difference between life and death.
Also boarding plank those battlewagons, as I believe you can use your plank hits AND deffrolla in the same turn
I hear good things about something called a Kill Tank, or a Kill Krusha. But otherwise Stompa it up. Ork Superheavies are mercifully easy to scratch build, possibly the most efficience ratio of effort - points you'll find in the game

The kill tanks are AWESOME (in theory. I've never actually fielded one). They will definitely be accompanying me later, once I get some models for them.
I've never used boarding planks before, but I suppose that would be a good use of the PKs inside. Could be quite useful.

stompas are awesome for apoc nott only is it very killy on its own but fill it with some mega nobz have them jump out and wreak havok, the biggest thing about apoc i find tho isnt necisarily having the most competative list (for me anyways) its having a huge fun game where crazy and unexpected things happen, one of my personal favorite units is the gargantuan squigoth, he wasnt 2 good in the last apoc but im hoping he will be better in this one (giving him both sets of lobas and filling him up with a squad of 15 lootas)
