Is upgrading a jetbike to a cannon a must or a nice convience? Is it worth the ten points ?

It is worth it. S6 allows you a new threat category and the extra range lets you allocate wounds out from 12". So if you want to get within 12.1" of an enemy, kill them out to 24" and then assault move back out of rapid fire range you can. Just a great upgrade.

It depends on the purpose of the squad. I don't upgrade my two 3 man units because their sole purpose in the list is to stay in reserve and then hide until turn 5 where they objective grab.

Likewise, I have just built some jetbikes for use as 3-man objective grabbing squads, and didn't include cannons on those. After staying in reserve for (hopefully) most of the game, they should be turboboosting to an objective or to increase their jink save anyway.

For a squad of 6-10, used as mainstay troops, yes the cannons are definitely worth it. Range and S6 are worth a lot.

if you have the points, always. 24" range really helps, and makes them able to put wounds on target even from distance. This is important because you can sit at 24" then use the assault movement to move out of normal weapon range. You can also use it to hop up and down cliffs while firing. Finally it extends the killing field allowing you to sit your catapult guys 11.5" away and still kill anything in the squad.
